Simplifying the Staff View Conversation

From now on, instead of writing long opinions about Staff View, just say A, B, C, or D.  This will save countless hours and terabytes of storage.  Here are the definitions:

A - Music is written on the staff and has been for centuries.  Staff view bugs should be fixed.
B - The staff view is good enough for a sequencer as it is.  Buy a notation program if you want more.
C - I don't read music and don't care.  In fact, I should be using Ableton.
D - For some weird reason, I think the Staff view makes Sonar more expensive.  Remove it.

Now, all you have to do is decide if you are A, B, C, or D and then type that on any of the 1,000 threads on this topic.

A

There is a problem with the staff view? I thought the problem was no VST3.

Just to be clear - does "A" mean, address SV limitations which have existed since the dawn of time, -OR- are we referring to unexpected or diminished SV behaviors / appearance which manifested themselves with the advent of the Sonar X series?

it is the worst piece of programmed crap i have ever encountered. cakewalk by roland should be embarrassed enough to hide it from all seeing eyes. you should have to know a secret code just to un-hide it. to get the secret code you would have to meet with cakewalk by roland staff and reveal the secret handshake. the one that all USA politicians use would suffice. or they could fix it.

    I am for "A"

But I actually like when people chime in with B ...even if it's not relevant.  Sometimes I even want to write "Sonar is not and will never be a Notation program! ".

I figure if I write it first, then the people who came to the thread just to add that, can stay out of the conversation.

That's a good clarification. Yes, I have separate notation software. I just want SONAR to have a staff view that is effective for creating and editing. And please, so this thread doesn't deteriorate as others have, if anyone here doesn't need that feature, there is no need to be critical of the efforts on behalf of those who do. Thanks in advance.

    - But here's the thing... Are we talking "bugs" or UI or both. I would say both.
It would help me if people would (after their initial "Letter Vote"), especially if it's "A", to expound upon the bugs.

For me, not having the "tools" (i.e. change the mouse pointer) available both inside the Staff window and/or in a right-click menu is CERTAINLY a UI that should be added. It teeters on "bug" as far as i'm concerned.
If i have my staff view on my right monitor, I have to move my mouse over to the top of the left monitor to change from "write" to "erase" - how crazy is that.
Now that i'm writing this (and unfortunately i'm @ work) i wonder if i could get a Keyboard Shorcut" to handle that situation. in either case, it should still be in the Staff Window or on the right-click menu, and better yet on both.

Just to qualify, I probably should have said A, except that I am not aware of the bugs.  I am a user (and an advocate) of Staff View, but I never use it for the sort of detailed editing that PRV is ideal for.  I tend to display the two views side-by-side with PVR zoomed in and SV zoomed out.
