Maybe not a good enough answer, but Noel say something about automation in this post

Thanks for that.  That eases my worries just slightly.  Still wouldn't mind if someone from Cake could confirm.   It's been broken since the initial release of X1 and was never fixed in ANY of the patches or quick fixes which I find kid of ridiculous.

There's been numerous comments and confirmations on this issue in the past on the board, as well as problem reports w/ no comment from them.  I refuse to update if this isn't fixed.  Honestly I feel it's crazy that I'm probably going to have to update for this to be fixed at all, but whatever I guess.

I would suspect because the post was as relevant as to asking about detail specific issues on a product that has yet to be released....

    *sigh*

The Cake staff HAVE been present on the forum and HAVE been answering questions about "detail specific issues" relating to X2 the last few days.  Hence the title of the thread.

Copy/Paste and envelope editing in general went through a massive overhaul. As far as I can see synth automation copy and paste works with no problems in X2.
Do you have a case number for a specific bug that you are  referring to? Its impossible to confirm without having specifics, since there are hundreds of permutations of what you can do just with copying and pasting envelopes. Instrument tracks, multi output synth tracks pasting within the same track, pasting from a normal track to instrument track, etc...

Thank you for replying Noel.  I do have a case number for the issue: CWBRN-8101

Also here are a few other threads where others confirm having the same problem.

(This particular thread is from '08.  The problem has been around THAT long!!!  It apparently got fixed at some point and then "re-broken" in X1.)

I can confirm that 8101 has been fixed. Support likely hasn't gotten around to updating all the fixed issues from X2 which is probably why you didn't receive a notification about it. Below is the bug status from our internal database. [I blanked out some fields to protect your identity]

    CWBRN: 8101

    CWBRN Msg Center: ********

    Creation Date: 3/10/2012 10:41:03 PM
    Name: B**************
    Email: b**************
    Product: SONAR Producer
    Version: X1d build 535
    Serial Number: CXXP**************
    Assignment: AutoBake 3000
    Status: 20
Summary: Cannot copy and paste automation for virtual instrument parameters.
    Description:
    Insert virtual instrument/synth.
Use edit filter to access the automatable parameters from the virtual instrument/synth.
Automate one of the instrument/synths parameters however you want.
Once you have automated the parameter, then try to copy and paste the automation you've created somewhere else in the song or project.
You should notice that the paste automation info is not assigned to any envelope and is "ghosted".
Expected Results: I expect an exact duplicate of the synth/instrument automation that was created and copied to be pasted and assigned to the correct envelope at whichever point I select in the project.
Actual Results: Synth automation is pasted but assigned to a "ghost" envelope and there is no way to reassign or correct the problem.
    Specs:
    Audio Make: M-Audio
    Audio Model: Delta 1010
    Driver Mode: ASIO
    Op Sys: Windows 7 64-bit
    Repro: Reproducible
    Language: EN
    FogBugz: **************
    FogBugz State: Closed (Fixed)

    Great!

Glad to finally get some sort of closure to this question.  Thanks for your timely response and willingness to help.  I can start being a lot more optimistic about the new version now.

I've encountered trouble copy/pasting envlopes (eg. filter cutoff, Gtr rig parameter) in the BUS's as well.

Funny how everyone has their own view on things.  I saw this as just another way of bumping the topic up without doing the usual "bump".
