Skips

Hi guys.   This is not a matter of life and death but if you have any ideas it would be great.  Here's the deal.
I recorded a song and all was fine when playing back as i recorded the various tracks.
Then i went to mix the song and was setting volumes etc.  Got the vols at an ok level and moved onto EQ, Buses etc.   All of a slap, I play the song back and it sort of skips about three times during the song.  I've tried soloing the tracks to see if its a particular track that's at fault but cant seem to isolate it.  Now when i say skip, it isnt actually missing lyrics but there's a definite "jump" in the song.  It doesnt ruin the song as a demo.  But you couldn't send it into TAXI etc as broadcast quality.
Are these kind of issues anything to do with latency or such?    just curious.  Thanks y'all

Are you using the same latency settings as recording? Sometimes during the mixing process, interface buffers need to be increased so the CPU does not have to work as hard.

My ASIO Buffer Size is set to 128 for recording, and when I move to start mixing, I bump it up to 1024, which then allows some of the more robust plugins to do their thing without dropouts and such.

Some plugins are only meant to be used for mixing/mastering, due to the way they process, either by being CPU hungry, or by using look-ahead processing - which adds a bunch of latency.

So, try bumping the ASIO Buffer Size up to 1024 for mixing, and see if that helps you.

From MY perspective, for the rest of time I will be adjusting ASIO Buffer Size, back and forth, from 128 for tracking, and 1024 for mixing/mastering.  It's just the way it is, it seems.  :)
