Do you know if you can add the Kvr forum code for jrrshop to that as well?

Think it's something like (edited out ). It says somewhere on the site.

I did notice the advert but just thought it was the usual reduction. $66 is very good. Cheers.

That code didn't work...

if you don't mind spending the extra 16 cents, you'll get a copy of either EZDrummer Lite
or EZmix lite for free at JRRShop

Make sure you pick the FG-X that has the appropriate freebie...it's not automatic

Cool. I'll edit out that code.

Used to be : 'Redeem the 10% "FORUM" and 15% "GROUP" coupons at: jrrshop.' Probably only on certain things.

I have it and it's a unique piece of gear. I got it when I thought I would do my mastering piece by piece. I decided to stick with Ozone and upgraded to 5, so I'm not using it. However, couldn't this also double as a limiter to bring up a particularly quiet track since it's designed to increase loudness without losing definition or loudness?

Also, one of the nice features that I wish were in other pieces of gear is the audio leveling. There's a button to that will auto-level the output to match the input, so you can hear the effect on the music without the bias of hearing it louder. When you are satisfied, click the switch for the output boost - great feature!

Ozone makes it easy for a non-expert like me and I just couldn't get the same results (easily) by using individual plugins. Know your limits, as they say! :)

I use T-racks too. I'm unlikely to win 'mastering engineer of the year' award. I'm in for the 'It sounds better than before' award though.

I've been quite pleased with it...

Even though I have come to despise the iK business model...
Their plugs are nice...

If they'd pull their head out their iArse they'd be doing themselves a favor
and do a lot better IMHO...

I agree 100% and talked about it on another thread. Their business practices/licensing/web site detract from all the positive discussions of their stuff. Just like it did on this thread! :)

PS: Their SSL Bus Comp is awesome on drums!

FG-X is my go to mastering tool for hard rock to metal. It truly shines for that.

For anything leaning towards jazz, folk or acoustic I go with Ozone 5.

Bapu,

What are tools are you using for mastering hard rock? Ozone is doing EQ, reverb, multi-band compression - etc. The Slate is really just the compression (single band) and limiting, so I'm curious to learn more from you...

James,

It can vary depending on the project. But in fact I try to get it right before the master bus so that I don't have to do too much there.

I'm curious why you say Slate is just compression and limiting. What about the two "EQ" knobs and the Dynamics knob. They can be your overall friends too.

Like our strikinglyhandsome1, I'll not win mastering engineer of the day (let alone year). So probably big M Mastering is not what I do, I'd call it little m mastering.

You know, I watched the training videos but they were very vague on the EQ and Dynamics - perhaps they can affect the sound more than I give them credit. Will revisit, thanks!

You'll find this about "most" training videos...they will cover the bare minimum to get
you an idea...but the rest is up to you...finding something down and dirty and in-depth...
not very often...it's all about the Benjamins...keeping you in suspense for the "next" tut...

I still have Ozone4 and use that for mainly making sure the bass frequencies are in the middle and sometimes the multiband comp. For limiting I use FG-X and am very happy with it. I thought the two knobs were for transients for mainly kick and snare and in those frequency ranges. I also really like the metering on it.

Juan, if you don't already have it, you should have bought it at JRRShop
and got the free EZmix Lite or EZDrummer Lite for 17 cents more...

Otherwise the PluginDiscounts deal was better by $3....not a lot...but $3 savings over a year
adds up to another plugin

So Bapu,
Last night I kept Ozone on a track but compared it's maximixer/loudness module to FGX and was pleasantly surprised! I played with the dynamics knobs and while I could hear the bass affect, the detail was a bit harder to discern. With some careful A/B and some tweaking, I really liked the FGx over the Ozone loudness module in this informal test.

Thanks for causing me to re-explore this plugin!
