Oh snap!

I had convinced myself that I don't need any more compressors, but I love my Slate stuff and sort of promised myself that if this dropped below 100 bones I would own it.

Thanks cclarry - looking forward to playing with this new toy. :)

I waited for this price drop. Why did it have to come after I bought a few analogue drums kits last night!

I've been waiting for this too but daggamit I just saved up enough to buy an Audient ID22 and I just ponied up for ATH M50's. I may bite the bullet on this one for my love of all things Slate and wait a little while for my new interface. Thanks Larry.

Larry, I don't know what happened there. I thought I did use your link. I didn't get the discount and later got an e-mail with a discount code that didn't work. I contacted customer support and jumped through some hoops and kept getting automated emails stating that the case had been resolved but still no discount. Just when I was ready to give up I got an email that stated there was a $10 credit in my account so I placed the order. Right after that I got another request for more screen shots, go figure. It was somewhat of a debacle but I ended up ordering the cans. Sorry you didn't get credit, I really appreciate your dedication to the cause here.

Wound up getting this from audiodeluxe as I had a 10 dollar voucher. Main issue with slate is that they are very slow on fixing bugs and releasing patches.

I've got them and installed them, but the MU is the only one that works. If I put any of the others on a track, I get a popping sound and then my audio is gone. I have to restart Sonar to get audio back. Ticket submitted, hope they can help.

I'm curious if anyone else has had issues with this plug. James, will you keep us update on the outcome? Thanks.

Will do. I was hoping to get an update on my ticket today, but no luck so far. I've wanted these for months so there is no urgency, but now that they are so close to being mine I want the darn things NOW. :)

I noticed that issue too a while back but I had not investigated it any further after I changed to another compressor (hint: I have a wide array to choose from)

So Slate support contacted me and asked me to install the latest (beta) release and see if that fixed the issue.

It did not.

I'll post back when I hear from them again.

Bapu, rumor has it you only have two plugins and they are both freeware 32bit VSTs from 1998. Did I hear wrong? :P

Still the same problem for me too.

What is weird is that I remember a time when they all worked.

I may go back a version and see if those work for now.

let me know if that works and I'll got back as well. Very strange - I've tried to conceptualize what might be happening, but it's really strange behavior...

So I sent an email to support but never heard from them yesterday, so I logged into their site to check my ticket and the update was never posted, so they may have a problem with their email connector. I updated the ticket through the web and I'll let you all know when I hear from them...

Re: Slate VBC 2014/04/23 09:20:20 (permalink)
Bapu,

I heard form support this morning and thought I'd paste this for you in case you wanted to try the steps as well:

Hi James,

Please note, all support queries are dealt with through this, our HelpDesk, any e-mail you may send to support@ are "noreply".

I've had no further tickets regarding this issue, so I would advise a clean install, and request your full system spec's and session settings, and steps to repro for further diagnostics please.

Please remove VBC components from your plug-in directories, clean registry with an app such as Piriform CCleaner (free on the web), deactivate and reactivate license in latest iLok License Manger, and run Sync/Repair on the key.  Reboot and then install VBC 1.1.0.10.

If you have issues still, I'll note our developers for review, and in the interim you may try older version 1.0.1.6 (noted last major release, stable!).  Note, nothing has changed regards the algorithm, so sound will be exactly the same through builds...

Well, I followed the above instructions exactly, but I have the exact same problems - even going back to 1.0.1.6 as they requested.

So far, things are not going well...

James,

I'm sure you'll find that 1.0.1.6 works for you. It did for me.

I just need to carve out the time to go backwards too.

Re: Slate VBC 2014/04/23 19:24:11 (permalink)
James.

I just tried some quick experimentation in 1.1.08 and I've concluded that there is a problem with the rack and/or chaining with other fx's.

If I load single compressor(s) on a track or bus Fx bin I do not get any problems. However if I load any single vbc compressor in an fx bin with another fx (non slate) I get the pops and then dead audio.

When I load slate VBC singles in an FX bin it's no matter that it's VST2 or VST3. All is good.

When I chain vbc singles (non-rack) with non slate FX in the bin, vbc VST2 and VST3 no workie.

Re: Slate VBC 2014/04/23 19:26:25 (permalink)
Oh, forgot to mention. The chaining with non slate FXs only craps out when I do it to a real audio track, not on a soft synth track.

OK, this is weird.

I just loaded the rack on the Master Bus and I had no problems.

Same project that I was describing above.

So the plot thickens. Slate support asked me to install Reaper and try them there. They do NOT have the problem in Reaper; they work fine.

In Sonar, only the mu works...
