Slate subscription renewal thingy...what does it mean??

Just got a thing from Gobbler telling me my Slate subscription had been renewed and thanking me. It also mentioned a date of Feb. 3rd 2016. My four month freebie should be good until the end of this month...maybe even next month...ill have to look. So what's this then???

    Got a similar one yesterday saying I'm good until April '16. I don't remember giving them a credit card/paypal, but that's certainly possible.

    Well, over on Gearslutz, Slate seems as clueless about this as we do. Not that you guys are clueless ( though I've been called that a time or two), maybe clue-lacking or clue deprived. But not clueless.
