Slate's Cyber Monday.

If some of you guys haven't spend all your plug-in money yet, Slate is having his big Cyber Monday sale. Up to 60%.

I've been thinking about upgrading RC Tube to VCC for a while, but w/ the current deal, buying VCC directly is actually cheaper ($99). Not sure I'll be able to resist... :P

Just saw Slate FG-X for 116.47 at Audiodeluxe. Almost makes me have to buy it.

It's also $99 at Slatedigitsl.com. Maybe Audiodeluxe or plugindiscounts.com will have it for even less soon!

plugindiscounts.com had VCC for $75.00 / $145.00 VTM bundle for Black Friday-MVP sale but don't see any there for Cyber Monday.
Maybe it will be discounted again later sometime today? That's the cheapest I've ever seen it.

I was about to jump on the FG-X and read that it needed i-lok.
I don't own anything with i-lok, is it really the anti-christ?

I got my original Ilok for Pro Crap.....

It's not as big a deal as people make it seem...

    Softube Requires it...

    Slate Requires it...

    Pro Crap requires it...

    I don't mind it...and it's working under Windows 8 without any driver update....so that's a bonus...

People are more adverse to the cost then to the Device itself...

I also have an eLicenser for Cubase also...

They are what they are...it's up to you to decide whether or not it's worth it to YOU...
Personally, Softube and Slate...that's two pretty good reasons (for me)

    Cheers!

What's the Waves equivalent of the FG-X?

Waves really doesn't have a "MASTERING" plugin like T-Racks or Ozone or FG-X...

You need several Waves plugins to accomplish the task (most of the above are "suites" of multiple processors)

Waves Grand Masters would be their "Mastering" suite...

    Cheers!

I've always been against it, and quite vocal about it. Then I got my first iLok w/ Pro Tools, so I thought I might as well enjoy it.

Short of a very unintrusive copy protection method like Cakewalk's serial number, it can be less of a hassle than other method of authorizations.

Unless your iLok breaks or is stolen.

Plug-ins it allows me to run that I wouldn't want to be w/o anymore - Slate's, McDSP, Lexicon Reverb.

And in case you missed it in that other thread - Sweetwater has Slate's Trigger going for $149 for Platinum and $49 for EX.

cheers Rain - do you think that now Waves has moved away from iLok, others will start drifting?

I say the best option is to continue voicing our concerns to them every opportunity we get.

Prior to them going iLok-less, I've made sure to advise Waves via their Facebook page that I was passing on their deals and buying more expensive alternatives just because I didn't want to put up w/ iLok.

To be honest, I wish either Slate goes the way of Waves or Waves reverts back to the iLok to free up a usb port because now I have to have two dongles if you count the flashdrive my Waves plugs are on.
