Slide over old to make room shortcut?

I would like a shortcut to Slide over old to make room. In Protools or Live all you do is ctrl-D or Shift Ctrl-D and you get a copy/paste of everything. it even slides the markers, automation, etc... veryuseful when you want to double a section of music. Only 1 shortcut. How to do this in Sonar?

    Ctrl+C to copy
    Ctr+Alt+V to paste with options
Ctrl+V to paste using the same paste options.

I guess his becomes feature request :( Sonar's way of doing it needs clicking some options, then when you want to use a regular paste, you have to click again. Once you taste the shift-ctrl-D (Pro-tools and Live) you know you miss something...

It kind of depends on how you define a regular paste. I think this is why Sonar has never had such a thing. You have to specify how the paste will work. At some point you have to specify the paste parameters.
Ctrl+V used to do what Ctrl+Alt+V does now. At least now you can just Ctrl+V instead of dealing with a dialog box but I agree that an additional simple, non-configurable paste command would be useful.

I've never used ProTools or Live but surely you must have to configure how pastes will work?

Another possiblity would be to switch the whole timeline over to a ripple editing mode which would slide everything along whenever you move or paste something else.

Live has a "Duplicate" command which can be quite handy ... kind of a Copy and Paste combined.
Ctrl-D copies the selected measures and pastes it over the same number of subsequent measures (replace).
Ctrl-Shift-D copies the selected measures and inserts them at the end, moving everything over ripple-edit style.

Yes I was of expecting X1 to have a Duplicate command, just about every other software has one these days. I think I first saw such a thing in Corel Draw c.1990 - Very handy indeed! The way that works is v. cool - Ctrl+D duplicates an object at a default position, then if you reposition that object in relation to the original subsequent duplicates get positioned with parameters to match what you did with the first copy.

Sonar doesn't call it ripple editing.
I think you can only do it when cutting or pasting. When pasting its the slide-over option. When cutting it's the Delete Hole.
