Slip-stretch

I can't figure out how to use slip-stretch anymore. It used to always be that you held down control then clicked the end of an audio clip and as you slid it either way it would stretch or shrink the clip. All the documentation I can find still says to do it just like that, but it doesn't function that way now, it just adds to or subtracts from the clip, doesn't stretch it. Driving myself a bit nuts and can't find anything on this forum with a search; sorry if this has been covered. TIA!
