Small victories

Recently my Logitech mouse developed a problem - the dreaded "phantom double clicks." You press the left button once and get two clicks. It's the most infuriating thing when you're trying to do, well, anything on a computer. It's a common problem with Logitech mice. I found a solution touted online in which you drain the capacitors by taking the batteries out and clicking all the buttons for a minute. It worked, for about a day. My last Logitech mouse had the same problem so I replaced it thinking it was a dud. The replacement developed the problem after about 4 months.

So I called Logitech. The support guy said they'd mail me a new one if I emailed them a scan of my receipt. I told him to email me the details of how to go about emailing it. So he sent me an email which didn't give this info. I emailed them back and requested the info, and received an email with a link which I filled out along with the attached image of the receipt. Some other support dude sent me another email saying they'd received my request but could I send the receipt image. Whatever - I sent it again.

Anyway the upshot is that these doofuses appear to have created two separate support tickets for this, because yesterday I received in the mail TWO count 'em TWO shiny new Logitech mices

This is great. Going by my experience with Logitech, I have calculated that I stand to experience as many as EIGHT months of trouble free mouse usage from these two devices. Life is good.

Logitech's building is about a 1/2 mile from here.  None of my 8-10 Logitech mice seem to have any issues.

Never had issues with mine either. This one I bought w/ my laptop in 2010 - not a glitch so far. None's battery powered though - I've had one for a while and didn't like it at all.

We should thank Sharke for buying all the bad ones. :P

I have the G700 (not the newest model) and really like it a lot as it has 13 programmable buttons. It's a wireless one that can be charged with an included wired usb. After about 5 months of useage, I'm noticing (during gaming....playing Team Fortress 2) that when it's wireless, sometimes it tends to locks up for a few of secs and then works as normal. When it's wired, it works flawlessly.
Possibly it might be something in the wireless settings that can be adjusted.....dunno.

Good to see you got a replacement.......I may have to go that route if I can't get this fixed. :)

I'm hard on mice. It's the gaming, exacerbated by the heavy hand of a piano player.

I used Logitech products for decades, mostly fancy cordless models, but switched to a corded Microsoft mouse a couple years ago. I discovered the cordless mouse would sometimes pick the same frequency as my cordless phone, such that the mouse would often get jerky or stop working altogether whenever I was on the phone. So no more RF cordless mice.

I also realized that I was always going to eventually destroy the microswitches in any mouse I bought, so it only made sense to buy the cheapest name brand I could find. The standard corded Microsoft mouse is like 12 dollars at my local big-box store, an acceptable recurring expense.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Sounds like Logitech operates like a government agency.
When my brother Mike enrolled in the VA health care system, he underwent a physical and since he's overweight, they prescribed a scale along with his meds.
He went down to their pharmacy and they gave him the scale and the drugs. A few days later another scale arrived via FedEx.
Works well, digital and can be switched between standard, metric and, I think, stones.
    Thank you VA!

Does it measure down to 10ths of a gram? You could use the scale to weigh the drugs.

If you Google "logitech mouse phantom double clicks" it seems to be a well established problem. Logitech itself acknowledge the problem to me.
