Smooth Volume Automation Possible?

I'm having an issue in Sonar Platinum. I have a PreSonus Faderport and I'm working with some vocal tracks where I need some volume automation. Every time I try to record it with the  FaderPort it looks like the automation envelope is either up or down. And on playback the fader jumps between the louder and softer points. Is there a way to get like smooth curves while recording and playing back automation instead of quick jumps?

There are very specific requirements for using the Faderport, like certain MIDI messages need to be enabled in Preferences (IIRC it's aftertouch but I could be wrong) and maybe some of the associated software has to be up-to-date. Last time I used the FP (several years ago, which is why I can't be more specific) the PreSonus web site had very detailed instructions for using the FP with various DAWs, including SONAR. When I followed the directions exactly, it worked as advertised.

I draw my automation using the draw or smart tool.  I can get more surgical that way.

It takes one to know one, and vice versa.

did you possibly by accident hit the "O" key ?
this is called offset mode. just try clicking it to see if it works.
if it doesn't, than simply draw a scull and cross bones on that key
