Snap quirks in PRV
After I record MIDI by performing on the keyboard, I go back and move some of the notes around in the PRV. I can't get notes to snap based on the snap setting in the PRV. For example, if a note that I played starts somewhere between two snap points (e.g. 8th-note markers in PRV), I can't move the beginning of the note so that it lines up with an 8th-note marker. Instead, it snaps to an 8th-note offset from the original position, i.e. somewhere else, between two 8th-note markers.
What I end up having to do is delete the note, and add it back in manually (i.e. with the mouse). Then it aligns properly.
I'm using X3 Studio, latest version, with all the patches.

The PRV has an independent Snap To/Snap By settling (newly introduced in X3c) and it's set to Snap By by default. The option can be found in the resolution drop-down list.

It doesn't have anything to do with the independent PRV snap setting. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, it does. As Jlien suggested, X3 introduced a To/By option for the PRV-specific snap, just like the global To/By option. But the Bakers defaulted it to By (I've already suggested they change that for consistency with the old versions). The To/By option is in the resolution dropdown.

Ah, I see it. This 'memory' offset was driving me nuts yesterday when I was doing a major amount of note shifting. Had to delete and redo the same notes as per the OP. Does this choice of 'snap by' stay set forever or just for the session or project?

Dunno, then. I can only reproduce the behavior you describe when PRV snap is set to By or Global snap is set to By and PRV-specific snap is disabled.

Snap To/By is project-specific. Right now, By is the default state for both new and existing projects. So you'll need to remember to change it and re-save projects and templates in which you'd rather have it be To.

Also check your "magnetic" settings in
Preferences>Customization>Snap to Grid
This was driving me "nuts" btw.
I feel like I'm pretty well versed and was having some "issues" editing midi.
Totally missed the snap to/by setting in PRV.
