Snap to Grid
Magnetic test.....? It's a green bar in a grid. Mine is to the right of the first line. If I move it and hit apply it goes right back. Now what kind of friggin test is that?

I'm gonna dare say it... X is vision test... I can't see half of it and the fact that 1/3 of the custom color choice options don't actually work just leaves me peeved.

Snap to grid is f'd up again Spacey. Well ... let me rephrase that. Snap to Grid is not working as expected on my DAW at the moment in X2a. I'm seeing a situation where Snap in PRV is following Project Snap settings ... even when PRV Snap is turned off. They need to make that Magnetic setting sticky. Heh. IOW ... set the damn thing and forget about it, not have it default back to something you don't want every new project, or randomly as it appears to do now.

Mike, the green bar is there as an illustration of how snappy the snap is. Just above that is the actual slider to set the strength between Light and Extreme.

I apologize Spacey. I misunderstood what you were asking. Yes, Steve is correct. It's a test of how the snap setting feels ones you apply it.

Yeah works like Steve says as a test area. Click and drag the green bar which will "snap" to the vertical lines using the current setting.

Bub, does it still do it if you turn Smart Grid off? I don't like that at all....and always work with the smart grid off when using snap-to. See if it makes any difference for you. -Danny

I just checked out Cakewalks video explaining the Smart Grid and they said Project and PRV snap settings are independent. So I take that to mean, if you turn of PRV Snap, it should be off and not affected by the Project Snap settings. The way it's working now is ... if I want to edit a midi note without it snapping, I have to remember to turn both Project and PRV snap settings off.

I'm thinking about doing a video myself Strange to say, I only knew the answer because at first I did exactly the same thing myself. I was dragging the green bar over to the right thinking I was setting the strength to Extreme - it took a few attempts before I spotted the line above was actually the slider.

I never turn off snap to grid - ever - and yet at least 2 or 3 times during a session I will notice that it's just randomly turned itself off. Such a crock.

Well....my doesn't and that's why asked what kind of test it is. As I said...I can change the "snap intensity" slider to any setting and the Magnetic Test green bar will return to right side of first or the three black bars. It won't move to that bar until I hit "Apply". Now if that green slug is suppose to return to the same spot regardless of the Snap intensity setting then it is working fine....and doesn't make a lick of sense. Though I'd add....when I hit Apply and it goes back it always moves at the same speed so it's not indicating anything other than returning to where it defaults to.

Not sure what's going on there then. That doesn't sound right at all. You should be able to drag the green bar anywhere although of course it conforms to your current snap setting. Did I read somewhere that you were having other "issues" with X2? It might be worth uninstalling and re-installing if there are other problems, I had alsorts of issues a while ago with V7, 95% of which were sorted out with a complete uninstall and re-install including deleting keys in the registry and other various folders on your system. They are HKEY_Current_User\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\ delete the “X2” key HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\ delete the “X2” key 32 bit only HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\ delete the "X2" key Also...... Navigate to the following C:\Program Files\Cakewalk or C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk and verify that the SONAR X2 directory has been removed then go to the Shared Utilities folder and delete PluginManager.exe and VstScan.exe %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Cakewalk and delete the “SONAR X2” directory if it exists %APPDATA%\Cakewalk and delete the “SONAR X2” directory if it exists \Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk and Delete the "SONAR X2" directory if it exists At that point your system will be X2 "clean" for a re-install. I always think that a re-install is a bit drastic especially for one problem but if you are experiencing several that's what I'd do. HTH

Yes you may have read that I had many issues with my first project in X2. I appreciate your efforts to help very much. I will be re-installing it this weekend. I also took advantage of the gift from Cake and got your video with it. I'm working my way through it and used many "new" ways for me. I used the keyboard more than I ever had. Enjoying your work very much and it has already helped me in numerous areas. Michael
