Snap to grid doesn't work in Piano Roll on X1c

How am I supposed to get snap to work when moving a note in piano roll view? I've tried setting the snap in the project, tried independently setting the snap in the piano roll view. Is snap ON when the snap button is blue, or when it is black? Either way it doesn't snap. I can move my note wherever I want in the measure. I'm using a fully registered Sonar Producer with the X1c patch applied (downloaded and applied it today).

Go to preferences->Customization->Snap & Nudge and set magnetic strength to "Off".

Go to Preferences > Customization > Snap and Nudge, and set Magnetic Strength to OFF. If this doesn't make sense, Google "Magnetic Strength Off site:forum.cakewalk.com" to find one of the countless threads discussing this.

Makes a change for me to beat you to it, it's usually the other way round.

The funny thing is we both let something like 28 minutes go by first, and then stepped on each other.

You totally fixed my problem!!! Turning magnetic to off fixed it completely! Thank you.. not sure why that isn't the default setting...

To make it default is done the same way as many other of the settings, set it to off and then save the whole thing as your default template.

It's worth spending a while setting X1 up exactly how you like it, snaps, screensets, widgets, tracks, etc etc and then saving it as a template. Then  every time you start a new project it's all set up how you want it.

In case you don't know @ontime, the magnetic strength is a per project preference. If you want it to be a default then FBB's suggestion is the only way I know of.

I don't know who decided what was a global preference, what was a project preference and what was a program default. I do know that I don't like many of the defaults and have submitted several feature requests regarding preferences.
