If this is, what I imagine it is, I'll be so happy. I really miss optional grid line resolution in track view when editing. Actually it sounds like something I've seen in another DAW and I liked that feature a lot.
Groovy man :O)

loving the snap to/by switch being so accessible. My question is, will the Smart Grid display the resolution it is switching to when zooming in or out? or will solely be showing the grid lines that it talks about (dont think I have ever used grid lines apart from PV set to 1/8 display)

It shows both. The grid changes and the resolution display in the module changes as well, while zooming.

That seems like a fantastic feature and one I'd use all the time, provided it's implemented properly.

The Smart Grid looks awesome, but I noticed that only the track view and piano roll view were mentioned.  Are we to read anything into the omission of any other view which may provide a glimpse into MIDI data?

I doubt it...  not because the SV doesn't need attention, but because it really doesn't have a "grid" per se.

Did anyone notice the minim note value on the snap? ....god forbid!

http://blog.cakewalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Snap-module.png

I wonder if this snap to grid setup helps us SV users... Is it a global or per staff/PRV/TRack View

I like to set my track view to measure,  but need my SV to handle different values depeding on the note values.
This needs to be addressed..

True but it does follow the global snap settings which is a RPITA.

What would be nice is if it behaved as the PRV with respect to the appropriate tools.

I would love a customisable Snap Module (or a right-click option) that would let me save, say, three or four different snap options to a separate button for each.

When I'm comping audio, I'm continually swapping between 'Snap to Measure' and 'Snap to 1 Tick @ Nearest Audio Zero Crossing'.

I wonder if this new Smart Grid can accomodate this customisation, or will I be locked to whichever snap method I start with.

Looks tres fab.  I'm an ol feller who likes "total" snap or move by "sample".  Will I still be able to manually set it to "sample" when needed and just leave it on "smart/extreme" when not???

It should except for one detail (zero crossings are global). By holding down "N" you'll be able to pick an alternate setting (i.e. Snap to 1 Tick). But some options are global (zero crossings in this case). Basically if you look at the blog entry, everything in that Preferences config screen is global. But you can have two different configurations for settings on the snap module. And this includes landmarks.
