Snow Snow, Thick Thick Snow !!!

This is turning out to be quite a winter here in the good ole U of K, snow earlier in the week, masses of snow in the early hours of this morning and I'm just listening to the radio now whilst trying to decipher some of my lyrical idea notes and hear that more snow is forecast tomorrow.

I live in a village and have to use our 4X4 to get in and out for supplies at my local Tesco, I've now stocked up a bit and dont need to go out until next week if I dont have to but I must admit, I actually like driving in the snow and going out walking in it. My dog, Bobby has never been walked so much as the last few days and despite being a West Highland Terrier with little legs, he loves it more than me, it must be his Scottish heritage.

Is it just me or does anyone else actually enjoy the infrequent "weather event" we are now experiencing?

Fog, your right there, and I have just come back in from another walk with the dog, and its getting icy out there. Fresh snow equals traction, old snow equals ice, the irony being if it snows again overnight it will be better to drive tomorrow morning. Think I'll have a cup of hot milk with a whisky in now, and contemplate it all.....

I haven't quite perfected the JR type laugh to go with that yet..

as long as I can get my lotto tickets / smokes theres plenty of food in the freezer and booze to hold out anyway and the boiler / heating keeps working, it can snow all it likes as I'm not having to drive for another week

Love it and the dog goes completely insane
I want more so does my son the college has been closed for 3 days this week, and he's counting on closure Friday as well so he can go out in the snow.
Got plenty of booze and food so come what may we'll survive, besides that I don't mind driving in snow and ice I kind of enjoy it, reminds me of my native scandinavian home.

    Cheers

Similar to me Mike, I've never seen the dog so happy, and I have just come back from driving my other half to the train station in town and it is snowing again here. This is the first real major snow event in the internet age, and I think it makes a huge difference for those of us able to still do our work at home in this way. Instead of a coffee break I think I might pull my skis out later !!!

Well we've still got it bad in North Bucks, been snowing continuously all day so far, my son, who lives with me has taken the day off work and insisted he is going to drive to Lichfield to spend the weekend with his girlfriend (it must be the hormonal urge !!) Against all my advice, I have had to help him get his Vauxhall Corsa off the path and off he has gone half an hour ago. I have him with a tow kit, shovel and additional clothing packed, but I think he is mad undertaking an 80 mile journey in these conditions - We shall see. I got extr supplies in this morning and later I am going to tidy up my project studio and work on sone drum tracks tonight for my forthcoming opus !!!

    Cheers

Your right there Vyne, got myself a nice hot chilli con carne on the go, battened down the hatches, and currently watching the BBC4 program about Odetta, the American folk singer and civil rights campaigner. Must admit her music passed me by almost completely, so a good chance to find out more......

I'm from Arizona. No snow but my last name is Willingham. Does that mean I can join this thread. Just kidding. I'll leave it alone. I did go to Flagstaff Christmas (Northern Arizona) and played in about 10 feet of snow. In Phoenix it snowed once for about a minute. 84 deg here yesterday. Have fun y'all.

Oh, I forgot to tell you. Most 4x4s here are used for self defense. There are many that have never been out of 2wd, but everyone's got on except me. I am glad that someone is using one for real. I had a big moster Ford and it saw mor sandy river beds and mountain trails than Jeremiah Johnson! I tore it up. Now that's the way they're supposed to be used. Congrats, Fog. Oh, you're friend's song is prime! I haven't had a drink for 21 years but I wanted a pint really bad just now. Ha!! man, that's good stuff huh? I really like the chorus and harmonies.

I was in Scottsdale once in November and all the locals were in big thick coats and boots while I was wandering around in shorts and a t-shirt. I suppose it was only 95 degrees!

Jeff I was in Scottsdale once in June around 1991, Can't remember the name of the hotel I stayed in but it was in sight of Mummy Mountain if I remember correctly. There was a great health studio / spa at the hotel, I was in there one day and after a work out I was directed to the Solarium, I walked through the doors and basically it was an outside courtyard !!! Well I guess it makes sense if it's "only" 95 degrees in November, I think the thermometer on the solarium wall reached 122 degrees at one point, I spent 2 minutes unprotected out there, decided I didn't want to end up on the carvery that evening, and legged it back inside.
