"So Crazy" X3 Original

Original smooth jazz vocal ballad.  Produced with Toontrack EZ Keys & EZ Drummer.  I also used the Trilian Bass Module (Spectrasonics) and Garritan Jazz & Big Band for the horns in the instrumental bridge.  Hope you enjoy it.

good stuff John - nice piano playing and good mix generally.
My only mix crit (personal taste - please don't take offence) is the reverb on the vocal is a little 'dark' which make the vocal sound muffled..
Did you use a separate buss for the reverb or is it on the vocal track?
If it is on a separate buss, try rolling some low end eq off the reverb buss.

    Markus and Daryl-Thanks for listening.

Daryl-No offense taken.  It's a freebie called Glaceverb.  I used it on a stereo bus.  Medium room setting.  Maxed it in the bus and fed it about 25% on the SEND.  I respectfully disagree.  I think the vocal sits very well in the mix, but as I said, no offense taken.  Cheers!

    Nice one John!
Like the piano and bass drum trio in the beginning.  Cool vibe.

Pretty good - enjoyed the walking bass line under the horn section. To me, the level of the vocals is too loud in the mix - but otherwise seems solid.

I also liked the piano trio arrangement for the first section, it works well.   I also liked the live room feel to the drums, and the way you brought the orchestral instruments in.   I think the vocals could use a little tuning though to reign in a few notes and maybe a "lighter" verb as Daryl mentioned?

Dug this song. The mix sounds good to me. Might want to experiment with some mild delay in lieu of reverb on the vox just for the heck of it.

Very reminiscent of the sort of songs Carole King could write. Well done John!

Your mixing style is not modern, and that is not a bad thing. Very open and natural sounding.

Nice tune, the vox is a little to present for my taste and it does sound like you could do with a little tuning to it, but what would I know I do not sing,
