Nice. :) And what is "this" exactly? (I know it must be a Fender, but...) Looks similar to a H-S-S I tried last summer (I had actually walked in to buy that one but ended up getting a Paul instead.)

Old55 Congrats, Greg. Did you remember the peg? Yes! Actually 6 of them since the salesdude couldn't find a single to give me. Rain, it's a Fender FSR Standard with HSS, as you noted. MIM. Ever since my brother moved out and took his Squire Strat with him, I've wanted another Strat. So I saw online something called a Fender Modern Player Strat, also HSS, and wanted to play one before I (maybe) bought it. Looking around the store, I didn't see any of that model, so I spent a couple hours playing all the strats in or near the same price range. The Modern Player was $399 online. I really liked this one. The red justs pops. It plays well, even with half-dead strings on it. So I ask the salesman if they have an MP in the store. They didn't. He walked me around and we talked guitars a bit and he showed me a few of the better used ones in that price range. But I wanted a new one. I walked him back the where this one was and said, "can you let me have this one for the same price?" It listed for $499. He walked over to the counter and found a coupon online for $100 off with a $499 purchase. He emailed me the coupon, let me log on to my email, I opened the email he just sent me and copied out the coupon's number. "Yes, I can let you have it for #399." I've been playing it since I got home... well, I had to stop to eat. Gonna put new strings on it tonight. I love it!

Sweet! Modern Player - that's the one I was thinking of, though I thought I remembered that they didn't make red ones. The FSR looks like a better choice, but didn't fit my budget for a second strat - I have my good old American one and the only reason I wanted a new one was that I can't imagine disfiguring that classic beauty w/ a humbucker. But I wanted that humbucker sound. That being said, the LP didn't fit the budget either, but, you know... Everybody's doing it. BTW, the MP I've tried was a whole lot thiner/lighter than I expected and in dire need of a fret job. It didn't really hold up to my old 90's Squier in terms of playability/feel. Congrats on the sweet deal, again.

I'm just happy 'cause, as of two days ago, I FINALLY have my last custom guitar back in my bedroom (it was in storage). I didn't get anything else except a stand but, at least for now, I can tweeedleweedleweedle and hrumm hrumm hurmm quietly and get some pleasure out of it. I got so tired of seeing all of you with nice new toys (which always makes me want to break out mine) when I couldn't play too! LOL! Nice axe there Greg.
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Right on Greg! I posted a great method to setting up that tremelo a while back. It sure works so if you use it and it gives ya trouble you may want to give it a go. ( if you've never messed with one) Like that red and black. Congrats!

Rain, this guitar is much heavier than my brother's Squire. Kinda surprised me, it's been so long since I played a Strat other than his. Craigb, it's good that you can pull it out and play with it any time you want. I went the opposite direction from you. Lived in a 1,200 SF house, now in a 110 SF room. I really don't have room for another guitar (5 now), so I bought one of those guitar-hanging brackets. If it works, I might hang them all. Unfortunately, it's a mobile home and the only interior wall is right over my bed. So if it fails, I might get a rude awakening! Thanks, Mike, I will! So get one, Marius. Say, did you ever get in touch with that girl? Spacey, thanks. The tremolo will probably never get used. When the guitar was hanging on their wall, there was no trem on it. A lot of the guitars were missing them. The salesguy said they often disappear. I didn't really want/need it, but the guy was going to so much trouble trying to find it I had to let him. He couldn't find the correct one (black-tipped) so he gave me a white-tipped trem arm instead. Reece and Herb, there was becan involved.

Greg... similar thing happened to me.... I simply stopped in while shopping for a laptop for my daughter next door.... I needed to pick up some new acoustic guitar strings...... I ended up with a new (to me) Taylor to put those strings on...... same exact store..... must be something in the water round here....

57Gregy Craigb, it's good that you can pull it out and play with it any time you want. Hmm... I don't recall it sounding that dirty when I posted it originally... Small rooms suck (I moved from a 9'x10' one). You have to be very creative and willing to compromise on what others consider normal (I could barely fit between the bed and the closet so I could have more room on the other side). *Sigh*

That guitar looks sweet Greg. And glad you got a good deal on it! I've always wanted to try one of those Humbucker style strats, but I've never seen one lefty.

drumstixkev Soooooo I walked into GC with a 12 string and walked out with one of these . . . Am I using the wrong term? The little plastic pegs that hold the strings in the body... A few months ago the G octave string broke and when I (much later) went to replace the string, I couldn't find the peg. So it's been an 11-string for a few months. All is well now. Yes, I got the peg, Marcus.
