So how many actually got CbB 24-04-1 to install? SOLVED

Edit May 2- I solved this by downloading at a location with stable fast internet so have overcome the download issue/ This is all was happening because the Bandlab assistant cannot resume a download if it is interrupted. See this thread for info on how I solved the problem..    http://forum.cakewalk.com/How-to-save-the-Cakewalkexe-file-m3754437.aspx

I'm still trying but something is broken. I'm on a few other threads with this but I thought I'd start a new one and see how many got the update WITHOUT any hassles?

I'll show you what happens to me,, this will be the 4th cycle.

The first couple of trys I just let the assistant sit there for hours showing no sign of life. Followed all the recommended advice. Just keeps going back to this. Big green button. Clicking the button gets a "downloading" flashing from anywhere from 10 minutes to all day. Then it will say installing sometimes but then nothing happens after that.

SO I thought I'd try installing directly as someone else said had worked.
Here is the Bandlab download folder, sort of hidden just like CCC was but somebody managed to dig it out. You can see there is the 2 files for the update.

When I click to run the cakewalk.exe as Admin I get this

So I delete the file and try again.
 Just goes round and round.

OK looks like something might happen this time. Now the 2 files are slowly growing as I kept that folder open after I just clicked the green button for the 5th time. Cakewalk is now over 135,000 kb and growing. Anybody have a successful install know how big it should be? And why is there the instrument.exe?

    My experience was as follows:

Opened BA 3.06.  Clicked "Check for updates" - told me update was available, so I clicked update.

This sat there for ages doing nothing.......  so I exited BA 3.06 (By the BA menu | quit option, not using X on top right).

Then I went to cakewalk.com to re-download BA expecting this to give me the latest version.  It did.

Upon installation, I then ended up with BA 3.08.

From here, I ran BA 3.08 and went to the "Apps" tab to check for a CbB update.  It stated there was one, so I clicked "update"

After about 20 minutes the new version of CbB had installed - it showed me the progress until completion.

CbB is now version 2018.4 24.04.1 Build 28.

I also used BA 3.08 to successfully install the latest Theme editor - I did not worry about the other addons as I already had them.

Are others seeing my Screenshots? I use Imgur and it has always worked.

Thanks for feedback. This whole thing might just be that if the download is interrupted then it will not work.
The assistant is not using your browsers download so there's no management happening.
The first version we got went to the Chrome Download folder. This one is hidden.

Well at this point the Assistant has once again just stopped doing anything and my 2 files show as this.
Nothing has changed for 20 minutes.

When I downloaded it on my main computer for the first time, it showed up as being in demo mode. I quit and re-opened and it's been working as expected. However, I was confused that nothing told me the download was finished. I checked the download properties and when the size stopped increasing, I figured it was done...it was.

What's unusual about this isn't that it ended up working. What's unusual is that this happened with AT&T DSL (their slogan: "Seriously, just have someone Fed Ex a USB stick to you").

Where are you based? Its possible that the CDN in your region is somehow capping you for some reason.
The latest CbB release is about 545 MB in size and the instruments installer is about 898 MB.
You shouldn't try and run the installer manually before assistant has finished.

I updated Bandlab Assistant, then selected Update CbB and CbB just downloaded and installed with no intervention.

Bandlab changed its status from downloading to installing but just sat there. CbB had been downloaded and installed without any intervention from me but BA just sat there unresponsive with no further status updates.

I was able to download and install 2 options I chose again with no intervention between selecting them and their download and installation.

It seems that a new installer file overwrites the previous ones as there seem to be only 2 files; Cakewalk.exe and Instruments.exe

I'm not sure why, I have no cap on my internet and in the past have downloaded everything from the original CCC without issue. The files have stalled at the screenshot shown above this is the 5TH  time  this has happened.  The Assistant gives you ZERO feedback. and because there is NO DOWNLOAD manager your stuck with this. Please take this new software seriously and spend some time making this work for ALL, not just those with with good internet. I install all sorts of software both at home and at work... this has never happened.

    Yeah!

Pretty much the same story here.
No progress bar, but eventually it switched to the install button (for other available downloads).

I closed BA (menu) and CbB launched fine. 24.04.1 Build 28

SO I thought I'd try installing directly as someone else said had worked.
Here is the Bandlab download folder, sort of hidden just like CCC was but somebody managed to dig it out. You can see there is the 2 files for the update. I did not want or need any instruments but looks like you have no choice.

When I click to run the cakewalk.exe as Admin I get this

So I delete the file and try again.

    Just goes round and round.

This is even more interesting as you can see the file sizes are totally different, THis was what was waiting for me after dinner after 8 hours.

My installation is working OK. My files are in these folders (different folders from you):

    (Image link)

The top 2 are the original install download files to my PC from a couple of weeks ago, so you can see the file sizes. The assistant file below is just 2 days ago.

To access the AppData folder (and beyond) we need to tick or check Show hidden items:

    (Image link)

To get my install to work, I went to Control Panel - Programs and Features and noticed that there were 2 BandLab Assistants listed / installed. I can't remember exactly, but I uninstalled the oldest one, or both of them.
Then I installed and/ or ran the Assistant again and it worked OK.
You could try to do these things.

No problems here, decided to download the newer version of Bandlab as against updating it. Then downloading and installing Cakewalk was, well ........ a piece of cake.

However, the Assistant does need a progress bar or summat.

Cactus Music have you actually tried downloading the files on all of your ''3 Desktops and 3 Laptops W7 and W10 '' .
If you still don't see the downloads via appdata/roaming etc then maybe try another computer at a different location and transfer the files as I mentioned.
Not the ideal thing but worth a try.

In the name of research (and for fun) I just did the following:

    1. Uninstalled all Cakewalk apps and the BandLab Assistant.
    2. Downloaded the BandLab Assistant from the website (Get Early Access Now) and installed it.
    3. Logged into the BandLab Assistant and chose the Apps tab - Cakewalk - Install button. (I happened to already be logged into my Cakewalk account online via my default web browser.)
    4. When asked, I chose to include the extra apps (apart from the theme editor).
    5. They all installed OK within about 15 minutes (and I gave them permission to install within Windows when asked by Windows at that time). The Assistant showed the install progression as expected.
    6. However. I could see that the install had finished, however the Assistant was still showing the Install button (not the Open button).
    7. I ran Cakewalk (from Windows) and it ran with no problems.
    8. I rebooted the PC and sure enough the BandLab Assistant was then showing the Open button (instead of the Install button)
This all took about 15 minutes (including downloads).

What I learned from this (in my amateur opinion) is that maybe the Assistant or Cakewalk could require a system restart upon the Cakewalk install completion. This then resets the Assistant to show the Open button instead of the Install button.
I wonder if a few users here have actually installed Cakewalk correctly (steps 1 - 6) but assumed that it failed based on the Assistant not updating without a reboot.

    Anyway, a quick 2 cents.

I initially updated the download assistant and attempted to install CbB but it sat at installing. I then uninstalled both the download assistant and CbB reinstalled without a hitch. However, I stupidly also downloaded The Melodyne option which overwrote my paid for Melodyne Editor. The solution was simple uninstall the Melodyne 4 player and reinstall the Editor. All’s well.

Bitdefender AV was my initial problem on the original version of CbB - it was blocking BA silently.
After adding BA to my firewall rules the new version of BA (3.08) updated and installed CbB 24.04.1 bld 28 fine.

I had a seamless install on my laptop and "bedroom studio" PC.

However, on my studio PC I did have issues with BandLab Assistant refusing to upgrade. Clicking the install upgrade button when the notification pops up did either nothing, or on occasions the "Check for Updates" menu item would change to "Checking..." and stay there forever.

In the end I downloaded v3.08 and installed it manually, from then on Cakewalk and the addons installed without issue.

One thing that still isn't working is the disable/enable on startup. Regardless of what this is set to, it always launches on startup. In the end, I used CCleaner to manually disable it on my studio PCs but left it launching on startup on my laptop.

I'm pretty sure this is a permissions issue with Windows 10. The issue doesn't present itself on Windows 7 (although to be fair, I've got UAC disabled on my Windows 7 boot).

I think it would be worth adding status/progress indicators on BL Assistant ASAP - if nothing else, it might help the Cakewalk team narrow these issues down. All these posts saying, "It doesn't work" really doesn't offer much help to them to start investigating... but unfortunately without any status and/or progress indicator, there's nothing much more us users can offer!

I have successfully installed it 2 times. First time was very slow, talking hours and leaving it overnight. Second time it went much faster ... say 10-15 minutes to download around half a Gigabyte, and then around 10 minutes to decompress and install the program. The program in itself worked fine both times. Theme Editor looked great also, you really can customize everything to your liking.

Updated the BandLab Assistant then updated CbB.  No problems although no progress bar.  I ran CbB after the update and appears to be OK.

I finally got it installed on all 3 of my systems, but had no fun on my 3rd try, which happened to be the main DAW system.

I will chalk it up to the large install flushing out a structural problem or something with my C: drive, because after the install failed into Demo Mode about 4 times, I stopped trying and ran a bunch of disk maintenance and cleanup stuff, deleted a REG key on the suggestion of baker Noel, and it went in okay.

A rough takeoff, but we are flying again, and I am really digging my return to Cakewalklandia (yes, return, after a 15-year hiatus). It's fascinating to see how the program grew in the years while I was away.

On first run, it appeared to be hung. I suspect it may have just been slow, but lack of a progress bar made it impossible to tell. So I cancelled it, manually downloaded BA 3.0.8 and ran it again. After about 10 minutes of a static "downloading..." message, I peeked into the download folder and saw that the files had already been downloaded. Their file sizes weren't changing, so the download was either complete or had been abandoned, despite BA still saying "downloading...".

I was about to kick off cakewalk.exe manually when it suddenly sprang to life and installed Cakewalk. I started up CbB and verified that it was the correct version (24.4.1.28, A.K.A. "24.04.1 Build 28 (2018.04)" as reported in the About Box).

So in the end it was a painless and successful update, total elapsed time ~ ten minutes. The installer just needs a progress bar, I think.

The first runs of BandLab Assistant and CbB both downloaded and installed without issue. I've also successfully installed the recent updates as well. I do have a reasonably fast DSL (Blast+) via Comast.

All’s well.

Hi we were told by Celemony that installing the Melodyne Studio trial will not overwrite your existing install of Editor but it will just update the code. Your existing license should be intact. If this is not the case for you please provide more detail and let us know ASAP.

No problems here. I didn't even have to re-register Melodyne or AD2. The only difference was that my themes folder was placed in another location within CbB. This may help, I did not uninstall SPLAT, I just left it on my hard drive and downloaded CbB then installed it. It took about ten minutes tops.
