I wouldn't mind checking that sim out myself. Sounded great. Really rich and thick distortion but still super tight and clean.

Yeah... I was gonna mention that but figured we've pretty much covered Danny in drool as it is... but what the heck. *drooool*

I only mention that based on the fact that I have some pretty cool sounding (via demos) libraries that just don't come out the same for me. And that's just hitting keys on M-Audio Axiom 61.

Yeah, my hands are all mashed up from years of abuse at work and other nonsense so I can't get the ultra hi speeds like Danny anymore (and even in my prime I don't think I was quite as clean as that) but when I'm warmed up the old man hands can still manage some fancy tweedlymadoos. Actually that tone would be great for the orchestral metal song I want to write for a friend of mine.

Beepster: you're too kind, thanks! I sent you a pm with a few links. See how that works for you. :) Ed: thanks brother! It's true what you say though....as I've found that out myself. I've jammed through rigs that my friends put together that sounded incredible with THEM playing....once I got on it, it still sounded decent, but it wasn't the same sound. Another thing I notice too is...we all have our own tone finger print. I notice that just about anything I play through, I still sound like me. Like the core of my sound stays the same...just some of the amp characteristics change a bit. That reminds me of the story about EVH and Ted Nugent. Ted couldn't wait to play through Eddie's rig so they switched...when Ted played through Eddie's rig, he was blown away that he didn't sound like Eddie. He said Eddie plugged into HIS rig and still sounded like Eddie. Proof of that tone finger print thing, ya know? Jonesey: Thanks so much! :) Sure, I don't mind sharing. It's a dinosaur...but one that is so loaded with options and possibilitiles, it failed because of that. It has options that have options for those options that have options for THOSE options and it just never quits. LOL! I use a modded Digitech 2101 tube pre-amp. It's hard as heck to program but has every effect and pre-amp possibility known to man other than a talk box. It's limitless with possibilities, but you really gotta be a tweaker to use it. Messing with presets is easy...but creating your own user algorithms is where it gets nuts. Like absolutely nuts! You have to route it internally using virtual patching...so you can come up with loads of possibilities. Eq's, reverbs, delays, different pre-amp voicings, flanger, phaser, chorus, wah, auto-wah, filters, pitch shifting both intelligent and single note. And one of the coolest reasons I use it...seemless program changes. When I mentioned "modded" I have dual processing in it. So I can change from one sound to the next without a gap in patch changes. And, one sound will morph into the next without that delay in the patch change. For example, say I have a string sound or something going on that has a long delay in it. Most processors will stop dead when your change a patch to where there is a gap in your sound, right? Not this one. It will literally carry the long delay into the next patch and switch instantly so I can be playing a drity rhythm sound and the delay from the last string type patch I had will still be fading away. You don't even hear a click or anything when it changes. Nothing I've ever used does it like this. It's also cool for recording as there have been times where I've wanted to play like I play live. I set up my midi changes in Sonar, press record and it will control the 2101 in real time changing patches for me, controlling my expression pedal, lowering gain, flying in verb, delay, flange, you name it, Sonar will control it. This is also good for live situations so I don't have to be tied down to my pedal board. Sonar will do all the changes in real time for me as I load our entire show into Sonar and it controls all our midi stuff...keyboards, my patches, everything. I actually did a little video for one of our forum members showing him how Sonar changes my pre-amp on the fly for me during recording. I think I used Rebel Yell by Billy Idol as my test subject. I was flying in the ray gun sound as well as some string type patches I had created in real time and was demonstrating how it all works. Pretty cool vid...if I still have it, I could post it for you if you want...it's pretty cool. Anyway, thanks so much again guys...I promise none of this will go to my head. I'm just happy to have a few people interested in what I do for a change and don't mind sharing if it helps anyone out....it's a breath of fresh air for me. :) Thanks again! -Danny

Well... I am just blown away. What an incredible story...and yes Danny, I did read the whole thing. It took so much time, that for now, I don't have the time to listen to the clips. I will be back though......

Danny: Man I just wanted those videos of you doing all them van halen songs - and I dont care what you tune to ... you can tune the guitar like a sitar - open C - chord or whatever you tuned to ... those solos were great - and you seemed to have the tones down too from what I can tell from a camera microphone I am just a rythm guitarist who plays some simple leads some times - Anyway - I like your playing - and the recording you put on dropbox - that was "smooth" - I guess i like the "smoothness" of the mix - I wish i had a better term for it ... it just seemed smooth the reverb reminded me of 80's - but I like the 80's heck I am having an 80's theme wedding in August anyway keep full of energy and rock on

Ah... I thought you were surrounding yourself with octagenarians at your wedding. My bad. (Think he'll sign the wedding book more than once? LOL!)
