So what's the current deal with uploading avatars - still undoable?

I vaguely remember complaints about it in past weeks, which I ignored because I had no interest in uploading a new avatar, but tonight - out of boredom I guess - I thought I'd give it a spin, only to discover that it won't let me. So has everyone just resigned to this now or what?

    I believe the powers-that-be announced three months ago that they would be attending to the matter urgently
