So who thought they knew what Pro tools is? The truth revealed.

I'd always been under the impression that Pro tools was DAW software but how wrong I was.

I've just watched an interview with Michael Buble and been corrected. Michael says something like "there was no messing around with Protools" and the interviewer responded with something like "for those who don't know Pro tools is the software used for changing pitch on vocals". Michael Buble then went on to agree and say how widespread it's use is now.

So now you know. Protools= pitch correction software. Remember you read it here first..........

If I find a link I'll post it up.

EDIT: For UK users the interview is running on BBC breakfast at various intervals this morning. Interviewer Tim Muffet.

Sounds like their "pitch" needs some correcting.

It's interesting when I read interviews with some of the all time top mixers how many times you can tell they have no clue about DAW software. There are still a handful of top personalities that have some 2nd handle the software while they call out commands from a console or automation desk.

I think the REAL question here is:  Why is Karl watching an interview with Michael Buble?

Pitch? What is this pitch thing you are talking about? I have to know what it is before I can correct it!

If it isn't played in AM, just pitch it.......use some Pro Tools when pitching it.
If it comes back, just duck it......use a chain form either side.
If you can't pitch it or duck it, just shift it until it's AM again.

As opposed to SONAR, the software used to make that backward-cymbal sound.

It must be nice to be able to spend $10,000+ for pitch correction software (not even 64bit).
And here I thought I was treating myself when I bought Melodyne.

Well at least I only spent like $1000 to get that world famous 'backwards cymbal' effect.

I guess no one told Mike Bubble that Cubase is 20/40% better and for much less money.
He can always blame it on being a drunk I suppose.

    Hey Dave!!
    Good to see you around....
    How's the vacation going?

Back from holiday now, and freezin' my tail off. A few days ago I was floating in the South China Sea, eating ripe mangos and complaining about the heat. Came home to 6 inches of snow. Picture me waiting at the airport bus stop in a short-sleeve shirt and sandals, shivering like a lost kitten and wondering what the hell I'm doing there.
