Soft Synth issues - Occasional 9db Clipping and Meter Freezes

Ok, So I've been auditioning presets in Dimension Pro, Pentagon 1, and one of the NI Reaktor synths. Twice now (Once in Pentagon 1 and once in Dimension Pro) I have had a huge signal overload that freezes the meters at +9db and makes a nice loud pop. Eventually I got things back to normal by either disabling and enabling the audio engine a few times or by switching to another preset.. I had a pretty big over in Reaktor but it didn't freeze the meters and stop all audio. This is kinda scary.. After the first time I immediately put a limiter on the master bus.

Anyone else experience this?

My system:

Core i7 960 - 6GB DDR3 Mem - Win 7 64bit SP1 - Sonar X1 Producer (X1b 255)
Also, I'm using a Roland Quad Capture (ASIO driver mode)

    It happens in Sonar 8.5, I think it is a bug, I don't know if it has been looked at, it might have and better heads with the right knowledge will inform you better.  It's not a biggy though you do what you have been doing, switch it on and off.

    Thanks Ben. Good to know.

    It seems like the speed of switching presets may have something to do with it.. I'll try always letting the audio from the previous preset die down completely.. I get impatient. :)

    In any case.. I'll just keep my trusty brick wall limiter enabled when I'm going through presets.


    Edit: Speed of changing presets doesn't matter.. This just happens eventually with various software instruments.
