Soft synth master voulme sound drop

Hello !!

I am using Sonar X1 LE for 7-8 months now.

Off late I am experiencing drastic sound drop in the soft synth tracks. When I PLAY or start RECORDING, the Master Volume meter in the soft synth window would automatically drop and go to position 10'o clock even when I set it to position 3 PM before the play or recording. I never faced this problem earlier. I tried reinstalling but it did not work.

The only way now I am to record with the desired sound level is - start the recording - open the track's soft synth window - raise the master volume back to the desired level - start playing the midi keyboard to record. And even after the recording is over, when I play the recording, I again have to open the soft synth window to raise the master volume because it would have already dropped.

Regards,
Kane

Perhaps automation has been turned on somehow

Hi.... you mean to say I have to disable the automation of the particular track?

Yes, check the volume and expression automation lanes.

either that or set it to a level that gives you the volume you want. If you have automation on, setting the faders by hand doesn't work.

I remember having a similar issue in Reaper some years ago with Kontakt.

Each start of transport send CC07 and CC10 on every midi channel as I remember, being volume and pan.
A feature on track panel was activated to make faders run midi.

So setting in Kontakt was destroyed each time transport started.

Is there something like this in Sonar?

In Sonar 4 there was something as I recall, when selecting a midi channel also activated fader for midi volume.

audiomyth, is it specifically Kontakt you're having trouble with?

Download and use PortDiag or TrackDiag from here:
http://www.tencrazy.com/gadgets/mfx/

You can see what is actually sent to plugins.

Portdiag is live input, and TrackDiag from playback.

So have a look if any CC07 sent.

Right-click the Volume control in the MIDI track (or Inspector's MIDI tab of an Instrument track), and choose "Disable Control". Anytime you alter this control, it will automatically become enabled, and will send whatever level you set as CC7 every time you start the transport. When disabled, the value will have parentheses around it.
