Soft synth note rings at beginning of song

If I have a song starting on measure 4, for instance, my soft synth will ring out at the beginning of playing the file?

How do I stop this.  (I.e. the note is suppose to start on measure 4, but it starts sounding out once only at the beginning of the song)

Anyone experience this?  Any idea how to stop it?

THANKS,
AB

    hi AB,
are you saying that you don't have any MIDI data in the track for beat 1 but you get a note output anyway?

    which softsynth are you using?

    i7, 16G DDR3, Win10x64, MOTU Ultralite Hybrid MK3
Yamaha MOXF6, Hammond XK3c, other stuff.

Exactly.  If there is a note in measure three that starts the whole song, that note will sound at any point before measure 3 (including at the beginning of the first measure) - and gradually fade out.

This happens with Garritan Steinway Pro and EWQL - this did not happen until I went from Win Xp to Win 7 64 but.  A very odd thing.
