Softube's Sonar Mix bundle not working in Presonus S1
I have the Softube Mix Bundle that I purchased from Cakewalk several years ago. It has the regular VSTs and the Prochannel versions. It works with Sonar, and also it works with Cubase 8.5, but I can't get the regular VSTs to work in Studio One 3.3 or Mixbus 3. I vaguely recall that this mix bundle was proprietary with Cakewalk, but with my vintage/aging memory I could be very wrong. Still it does work in Cubase. This is not a real problem for my use of Studio One because I rarely use S1; Sonar is my go-to DAW. It is just odd that if it is proprietary that it works in Cubase but not in S1. I googled this and saw that there was a recent issue with iLok and Studio One regarding Softube, but that has been "fixed" with an iLok update, and I am using the most recent iLok Manger version. Can someone confirm (or correct me) that the Softube Mix Bundle (the one purchased from Cakewalk) just only works with Cakewalk? Thanks C2

Do you have any other Softube plugs that work in S1? Are you running Win 10? There's been an issue with Softube running under Win 10 within certain DAWs, including S1. I don't think that's been fixed yet. Hope it will be soon. Their suggested workaround is to run the DAW in compatibility mode. Cheers, Eddie

Thanks Eddie: Yes I do run Win10 (64bit). I did in fact see via google that there has been an issue with S1 running Win10 with Softube, but I also read threads that said that this was allegedly fixed with the most recent iLok upgrade. So, maybe it is not fixed after all. Still, you are "confirming" that there is a problem with S1 and Softube. So, maybe my recollection about the Cakewalk version of the Mix Bundle only working with Cakewalk products is wrong. I hope I am wrong as it would be nice to have Softube's products available with all the DAWs I use from time to time. It will not be the end of the world, but it would be nice to have Softube vsts always available. Thanks for your reply. C2

Only the Pro Channel Modules were proprietary to Sonar. The bundle still works fine in any other DAW. Are you seeing the plugins and they are crashing S1, or are you just not "seeing" them? This could be a "Plugin Path" issue, if they are just not showing up in the Plugin list...

Oh, before Win10 you could certainly run Softube plugs in S1, regardless of whether you bought from Cakewalk. There wasn't anything different about the ones sold by Cake; in fact if you bought elsewhere you'd still have the ProChannel GUIs in Sonar. The recent issue arose with the release of Win10. Softube's change log calls it a "tricky problem," so it's not clear if a fix will come soon. It's unfortunate, because Softube has great products and is strangely afflicted by something that has affected no other major developer. Cheers, Eddie

Thanks Larry. Good to know that only the ProChannel modules were limited to Sonar. My issues is that the VSTs did show up in S1's effect list, but they were greyed out. When I dragged them onto an FX track, they did nothing. The VST path is the same as the one use for Cubase and Sonar's VSTs, but only with S1 do they not work. They do not crash, they just don't drag onto the FX track. Like Eddie said, there has been a known issue with them with S1. However, i just found that there is a workaround that I just tried and it works ( http://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/210050383-Problem-with-VST-2-iLok-plug-ins-and-Softube-plug-in-in-S1-v3-1-35191-on-Windows-10). This is to run S1 in Window8 compatibility mode. I tried this and it works--the Softube vsts function just like they do in Sonar and Cubase. Thanks to both of you for helping me think through this one.

I'm pretty sure that the iLok fix was in S1. That is, S1 was updated to deal with v3 iLok Manager. I think that is part of the v3.3.1 update just released. Also, Softube continues to struggle getting their licensing scheme to work under Win10. I had to uninstall the Drawmer plugins. They crashed S1 on scanning. Until they can behave properly (they've only had a freaking year (release), plus any beta program they participated in (probably not), to figure this out), they exist only in setup files on my system.

Have you tried running S1 in Window 8 compatibility mode? I just tried it and it worked for me; my Softube bundle now works. Not sure what this means for S1, but it is a workaround that helped me.
