Solid State Drives..(SSD's) are great !!....

I tried using a SSD to hold my Ivory Piano sample program on. The response was great, so I decided to get another SSD for my East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold Complete program. These ssd's are like putting your samples on a RAM memory stick as they can be called up instantly. These will also work good for streaming samples while recording with my Sonar HS7XL program, it'll leave the main hard drive able to concentrate on Sonar and not have to deal with searching for sound sample, resulting in a better overall performance.

These SSD's are awesome !!!

Just for kicks I installed a recipe program called MasterCook 11 onto one of my SSD's just to see how it would work. The program has a library of about 8,000 recipes. So I did a search on the SSD's for beef recipes. In a split second it had found 699 recipes and posted link to all of them !! So I tried searching for "chicken" and found 997 recipes in about 2-3 seconds !!

Did you install your OS on the same SSD?

NO, as I've stated before the ssd is for the samples and the 7200 rpm hard drive has my OS and Sonar on it. I'm planning on getting a large seperate ssd for my OS next year after the prices come down and the sized go up.

7200rpm hard drives are becomming the slowest link these days in noticeable system performance.  The one thing that actually shows a drastic improvement in the Windows experience is to installed Windows on a SSD.
