[Solved] Audio track latency

Hi folks

I could use some help with a latency issue please.

I created an audio track so I could play a bass part but I'm getting a very noticeable delay when playing. I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro set at 48 Khz with the buffer 128. These setting work perfectly well with Reason 7. I just fired up Reason and double checked. According to Reasons audio preferencies I get 6ms input and 5ms output latency which is pretty damn good. According to Sonar I should be getting 2.7ms latency with these settings. Am I missing something?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

Are you using any effects on the track? Some effects use a look-ahead buffer that introduces latency when using IM.

Core2 6600 2.40 GHz, ASUS P5B Deluxe, 8GB RAM, GeForce GT 630 2GB, 3 Seagate Sata, Echo AudioFire 4 asio, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab

Another things to check/tailor is your I/0 buffers (Advanced Mode: Preferences->Audio->Synch and Caching). Typically for the ASIO latency you have (128), I/O buffers of 256 or 512 are optimal. Too extreme high or low can also affect things.

I just got a new interface, and observed a similar delay when the sample rates on the interface and in the project did not match (never realized you could do this before, but had 48KHz feeding a 44.1KHz project). If these match, disregard this one.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

Hey guys thanks for the replies. StepD, no, no fx on the track. Mettelus, have checked that and the I/O buffers were set at 256. I tried changing them to 128 and 512 just to see if it made any difference but nothing, so I reset it to 256. Thing is I'm also getting the latency on soft synth tracks too. I tried playing Addictive Drums with my keyboard and there's a definite delay there too. Once again I fired up Reason and I am not getting the same problem. I've had Sonar Producer since version 7 thru 8.5 and X1 but admittedly have never got to grips with it but am ready to get into the big learning curve with X3. I'm sure this is gonna be something simple that I'm just not seeing..............

Try enabling the PDC button in the Control Bar's Mix module. If that fixes it, great. If not, disable it and see if that fixes it.
