Open sonar
New
and choose Basic*
You should see browser on the righthand side of the screen, if not
Hit B on your keyboard
This opens the browser.
At the top, you will see Media and a number of folders in there including BigFishaudio folder
Double click on that folder and it opens
Keep clicking on any folder until you see files with extension .wav
The first file at the top is usually the full song
Under that, you find the individual instruments.
When you click on one of the .wav it should start playing.
Choose the first one and drag to the track in sonar and hit play
If the samples are for example in G then select default groove pitch from the Project Menu in Sonar and change it to G
On the track insert Marker at Measure 2 using the M letter on the keyboard. Put D as name and change pitch to D go to another at measure 4 and do the same C and change Pitch to C
Then hit play and the track will play plus change keys at measure 2 and measure 4. That should get you started.
Change tempo in sonar to match the tempo of the sample.
1 or 2 semitones is the most you can change by on some sample until you start to hear its not correct.
