Solved: Burning to CD

OK, I've done this before, but it's baffling me now.  I have the play list in WMP and hit 'burn' and burns.  But the CD will only play in my computer...not a stereo.  I saved the songs as 16 bit, 44.1 khz wav files.  What am I missing?

    Sorry if this doesn't help:

There are 3rd party vendors, some free, IIRC, that burn CDs 'Red-Book' Style.

Many of us use Sony CD Architect (that comes with Sound Forge).  Perhaps you'd consider Download.com for a freebee or something.

Thanks Philip!  I did some digging around and realized I had to choose 'audio CD' instead of the default 'data CD.'  So it worked.  I just wanted to burn a CD of a few of my songs for a friend and for the prelude to my students' piano recital this weekend.  If I ever do another CD for real and produce it myself, I'll look into something like you suggested.  Thanks again!

did you finalize the CD after the burn?

Some burners do finalize automatically and some have that as an option that you have to select.

Once a disk is finalized it can generally be played on the majority of commercial players. You can not add to,  or change the CD once it has been finalized. Finalizing is done only on audio CD's.

Another fine point.... are you using AUDIO specific CD's for the burn? My experience with burning CD's has been that generally, data CD's might work OK, and at times they may not work. Audio specific CD's work 99.9% of the time and work on every player I have.
