*Solved* Can't install Sonar Artist 64-bit
I've just bought the Sonar Artist to evaluate the program before getting one of the bigger versions. My experience this far of the program ain't good. I can't intall the 64-bit version, only the 32-bit. I'm running Windows 7 SP-1 that's all up-to-date. The error message I get is the following: c:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Artist\Stretch.ax Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with the exit code 0xC00001D. Have you tried installing it as an administrator? What is your setup / configuration (pc, RAM, HD, audio interface etc)?

I've tryed installing as Admin by right-clicking the installer and using the run as admin. I've read the link you shared and I've tryed all those things in the post already with no luck.I have a new i5, 16Gb RAM, 4 WD HDD's that's running Cubase smoothly. I've also tryed to install my brothers copy of Sonar X3 Producer 64-bit and I've had no problems doin that. I uninstalled it again and did a clean install cleaning the registry but my Sonar Artist still won't intstall the 64-bit version, but the 32-bit version works fine. The Audio interface is a Babyface with the latest firmware and drivers.

There is no file strech.ax - only stretch.ax - typo? If not there is a bug in installer.

I assume you have 32-bit version under \Program Files (x86) then, or? Thinking if you changed path, so they install on top of each other. Either way, I would uninstall 32-bit version and try again....

I cleaned the 32-bit version so the 64-bit version ain't installed on top of the other. I did remove everything and did a clean install without any success of installing the 64-bit version.

There are 32-bit versions of windows 7 - you are sure you have 64-bit OS? A lot of installer is probably 32-bit, so it might not notice unless checking.

You say you're running Win7 Service pack 1, but your OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 as reported in the error log is for Win7 without SP-1. Win7 SP-1 would be 6.1.7601..... as here You said you tried re-installing Windows, make sure you have ALL the updates and it is SP-1. (and 64bit)

My misstake making it a bit confusing there. The error log was from when I first tryed to install it. I updated to SP-1 just after and forgot to make a new copy of the error message there. It's all the same "same error message" now except that I'm running the SP-1. Still no luck in installing.

Just for kicks I would try installing to a different folder. Also, if you're installing from CCC try downloading directly from your CW account and running the installer manually, and vice versa.

The most common cause for this crash (recently) is incomplete windows updates (SVCR120). Are you sure that all of the Windows updates have successfully been applied to your computer - including the reboots after the installs? The most recent was running with an account that did not have Administrator permissions, even though run as admin was selected. Did you have to enter the administrator password when installing? Glen

I have installed all updates that been announced except for the language packages. I didn't have to enter the administrator password. Could this be it? My account is administrator with full rights. "I've triple-checked". I've tried the installation with CCC and manually, both by standard clich installation and by right-clicking and "open as administrator" but I did not once, except for login in to Windows, have to enter my administrator password during the installation process. Is there an update I may have to find manually? Because there's none to click on in windows update on the list.

The normal response when starting app as admin is to get a dialog asking you to manually confirm this operation - elevating your authorization for that process. Just a Yes/no dialog. No password required if you are logged into an account that belong to Administrators group. If your computer only has one user account, seen at bootup, that is normally the case. If creating users you must remember to add it to Administrators group. If you don't get the dialog asking you yes/no - you might have UAC(User account control) turned off. Not sure how that responds to different operations that need admin rights, though. Running offline installers(any application) - I would always start with rightclick and run as admin to be sure.

I only have one account as I'm the only one using it. Does this mean I won't get the password dialog up when installing apps using right-click admin?

You should only get yes/no dialog to confirm - a security thingy since applications normally run as user which cannot write everywhere on disk or registry. You could try and drag-n-drop a file into c:\program files - you should get a dialog to confirm that operation since admin rights are needed. If this does not happend - maybe your UAC is disabled, turned off - and this may interfere with installers. But that is a manual operation and something you would be aware of. Go to Start -> Run and type msinfo32 och execute. There you get version and if SP1 is really installed.

Tried dragging a file into c:\program files and the dialog came up. So my UAC is turned on.

Found the problem. When I used Windows update for updating, the update wasn't done even though it said it was. Got the message that SP1 now is installed. Strange, when that wasn't the case. I downloaded SP1 and installed it manually and voila...The 64-bit installation = Success. A big thanks to all you guys giving me tips and advices in this issue. Couldn't have made it without you :)

Hello This and welcome to the forums. I am glad that you got Artist installed at last. And so...could you please correct the thread name with "solved" or some indicator that your problem is past? Thanks.
