[Solved] Can't copy audio from one CWP to another - major BUG???

Sometimes it's important to be able to copy audio directly from one CWP file to another. In other words if I open song #1 and change the preferences to allow more than one project open at a time. Then I open song #2.

In the past I could select audio from song #1, hit copy and then paste it into song #2. When I do that I get a blank audio clip after the paste - no audio, no waveform, just a blank clip. Midi copy and paste works fine.

Has something changed or is this a major bug?

Just out of interest, how are you copy/pasting?

Are you using menus or ctrl+c and ctrl+v?

I find ctrl+c and ctrl+v work better now.

I'm glad others are not having this problem. I went ahead and opened 2 recent projects and found that I could copy audio with them. Yet I just went back to the 2 problem files and I'll still can't copy audio from one to to other. The 1st file is from 4/16/15 and my old computer with Platinum and the new file is my regular normal template.

This is really baffling. I wonder if this is a backward compatibility issue? If so this is really bad, since this is almost always the reason I need to do this, when I have an old file. Of course I know I can export the audio and import it back in, but I'm just trying to figure out what I can do to make this work in the regular way

Any clues on how to do this?

Until a solution is found you should still be able to drag the clips to your desktop and then back to Sonar.

A nice feature request would be to drag audio & midi clips between open projects.

Shot in the dark: are the two projects in question using the same sample rate?

I went back to another old project done around the same time as the problem CWP and found that I can copy and paste audio fine, so it's not a backward compatibility issue. By testing these other files, I found that that the problem is the new CWP I created today, not the old one. The new one can’t even import a wav file. I noticed that the project folder has a name like this
    song title #2
My guess is the # sign must be causing a problem. I can’t recall  ever using the # sign in a project folder before. I use it sometimes in a CWP file. In the past wen I had 2 song version I may have named it
    song title 2
After I changed the project folder to a different name not using the # sign, it now works just fine. So sorry everyone – false alarm – user error
