[Solved] Can't get Presonus AudioBox USB to send/receive MIDI in Sonar

Hi Folks,
From previous helpful suggestions I've updated my audio and MIDI interface. I got the Presonus AudioBox USB.
Audio works fine, but MIDI is not happening.

My VST tracks are set to omni in, and the AudioBox MIDI ports are recognized and mapped to my Yamaha S80.
No MIDI signal is getting to Sonar. I also can't send MIDI back to my Yamaha S80.
Ideas?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi there, Did you set up the MIDI in 'Preferences/MIDI/Devices' ??
Also keep an eye on the 'input echo' buttons, they should be on.

@Anonymungus - Yes, MIDI devices are setup in preferences, and input echo is on, still no MIDI.

Your image shows channel 9 as the input. Is the Yamaha set to output on channel 9?

May want to rename TTSSEQ.ini in %appdata%\Cakewalk\SONAR Professional then start SONAR.
Verify the MIDI I/O preferences in SONAR
Then go to Preferences > Customization > Display and enable "Show MIDI Activity on MIDI Taskbar"

If there is no activity consider using a utility like MIDI OX to verify MIDI data is making it to the PC.

I must ask what might seem a stupid question. How are you connected to your audiobox with your keyboard? Are you using standard midi cables?

Not familiar with many keyboards and their settings, but I had a similar connection with an M-Audio Venom synth - there is an option on the synth to toggle "Local Control" vs "MIDI", that was a fun puzzle. It seems like it should be a common setting, something to look at anyhow :)

Good luck!

@scook: Well, that was odd. I renamed TTSEQ.INI, ran Sonar, reset the MIDI prefs, and now it works. Thanks!
