[Solved] "End of project" is ridiculously way far out beyond actual end
"End of project" is ridiculously way far out beyond actual last event I "deleted hole" checked boxes for all event types Saved project and reopened. Event view shows nothing out there. But still... pressing "Control-End" goes way out there. Any suggestions?

Try "Apply Trimming" and "Bounce to Clips". Also, check your event list to make sure there are no events of any kind past the end of your piece. JG www.jerrygerber.com

Various forms of problems with project ending are being discussed regularly. I think I noticed something funny yesterday. I've had many inexplicable cases when a project suddenly "forgets" its ending and plays back forever even though there are no events after the last clips. Like the one I worked on yesterday. If I "Go to" project end, it goes to the right place, the end of the last clip, but if I play it back it goes on forever. Accidentally I noticed that this seems to occur when I archive a track. I'll have to double check that, though.

Automation? Would it work to do a 'select all' to get everything selected, then adjust the 'From' to be the point right after where the end of the project SHOULD be, then do a delete? Wouldn't that get rid of anything beyond what you want as the ending point? Bob Bone

When this happens to me, it usually is due to a long colored section of the track that just continues for no reason. I use the split function to divide it at the true end point, then delete the portion that continues beyond the end. I find I sometimes need to move that section to another track in order to delete it. Also, I am using Sonar 8.5, if that makes any difference.

I transfer projects back and forth between 3 different computers. Lots of times I have seen the same project always stop at the end on one computer but continue playing past the end on another. I have no clue why this should occur.

99% of the time if I select all, select the region in the timeline, and delete everything, it deletes whatever event created the false ending. Haven't tried Jerry's trimming trick for the other 1%, but I'll give it a try.

When you (the OP) do this, make sure you do it in both the Track pane and the Bus pane. The latter might contain automation envelopes, for example. Check Options - > Stop at Project End in each computer...

One has Stop at Project End enabled in Track View Options, and one doesn't...? I usually keep this disabled.

I hadn't thought of that. I'll check tomorrow. EDIT: Yes, that was it.

Solved There were some automation nodes "out there". But weird that they were not shown in the event list view... which is a bug?... or maybe the event list view does not show automation events beyond the point that the last audio/midi clip ends?

Were they audio automation nodes or MIDI automation nodes?
