[Solved] Keep clips as clips, not bouncing to one big one
Hi I've chopped up a vocal take and edited out all the silence (and mumbling and grunting..) and have edited each clip nicely with fade-ins and outs. I'd now like to render each of the clips, but would prefer to keep them as they are individually in the track rather than bouncing them down to one big track clip. Es possiblé?? Thanks and BR EDIT: Apply trimming does not remove the fade in/out handles. Which is what I want to do..

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 'render' if you want to keep them all as separate clips. Can you elaborate? If you mean Export or Bounce To Track, you can do either of those without affecting the original track of clips by highlighting the entire track of clips and then selecting which you want to do from the menu.

Hi Slugbaby (first time I've ever written that ;-) Yes, I'd like to basically remove the fade in/out handles. No data overlaps, so they're not really slip-edited as such over each other.

What he said. And if you thank him by name, chances are it's the first time you'll have typed "Bitflipper" too!

LOL! Thanks boys. Apply trimming does make the clips no longer slip-editable, but it doesn't render the fade ins/outs. The reason i want to do it is to select clips and move them fractionally to fix timing issues and I don't want to mess up the fades. I ain't got a numeric keypad so I can't nudge them quickly. Thx and BR

In addition to being available in the Process menu, the nudge functions may be mapped to alternate key combinations using Preferences > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts. Type nu in the search entry with Area set to Global to display all the nudge functions.

In that case, try selecting each clip and select Bounce To Clip. That's what I do (with a kbd shortcut), although Bitflippers suggestion seemed a little quicker.

Yes, if you individually "bounce to clips" for each clip, it will do what you want and still keep them separate from one another.

Another option (which I haven't tried but should work) is to export the clips as BWF files, erase the existing clips, then bring in the exported clips. Check Preferences to make sure SONAR recognizes BWF files.

You might want to give it a try anyway...because there's an export option to export all selected clips at once, and you can bring them in to the project easily, it might save time compared to rendering clips individually.

Thanks Craig. But once I'm done with the fade in and out and happy with the checked clip and it's there in front of me, it's easy now to just render it right away with a (freshly assigned) bounce command. Your kind response has, however been duly noted, photocopied, stamped and filed for future reference.
