[Solved] Melodyne wont work and crashes Platinum (PACE driver issue)

Tried rescanning and it sees and scans Melodyne but when I try to instantiate a region fx Sonar hangs and or crashes.  At first...before the rescan it actually opened once but said it couldn't find my license.  So I got out of Sonar and checked my iLok manager...nope...it WAS there alright.  Then I rescanned all my plugs (a lengthy process for a gear slut like me).  Anywhoo...Melodyne no workee for me.  I had to resort to fixing the three vocal tracks in my current client's project the old fashioned way...out on the desktop.  And just when I'd started using ol Mel inside X3 and lovin it too.  Shoot!!

You really have to crank your buffers when working with melodyne. I think it was yelling at me to have a min of 1056 or something (which is very high on my machine). Like literally a pop up came up from Melodyne and told me to raise my buffers. I have a pretty fast machine too.
 
The other thing is I've seen it mentioned it works better doing small hunks of a clip at a time instead of a whole clip that spans the entire song. Essentially you do a range select of the are you want to work on on the clip. Do your edits. Render it then move on to the next section. Once I raised my buffers though I did not have that problem and was able to correct a whole clip of about 3+ minutes.

PS: I'm still on X3... so maybe there is a problem with Melodyne. I believe there was a patch released that fixed a melodyne problem with Platinum so maybe that's what's up.

Can't get it to work at all for me in Platinum.  Was working fine in X3.  Either hangs or crashes on instantiation as a region fx.  Any love will be appreciated.  I have Editor and not essential.  And did not install essential since I do.

Probably no help here but Editor is working fine in Platinum here. I also did not install essential. The fact it was working for you in X3 suggests something got hosed (maybe not migrated?) in the Platinum installation. I am pretty conservative with Melodyne however - small clips at a time, bounce to clips after correction, etc. Sounds like that's not your issue though.

And Platinum is up to date with the most current patches? If so then IDK what could be up. Maybe you found a system specific conflict. You said there was a crash? Did you save a crash report?

I have always ignored this pop up and never had a problem, even at low buffer settings - in X3 or Platinum.
 
Also, I have not had a problem with longer clips with Melodyne - with VVocal, yes, but not Melodyne.

Yeah, Melodyne gripes in other software too.  I ignore it like a bad girlfriend.

Crashing is worse than what I see with Platinum and Editor. I've found that sometimes creating multiple Melodyne clip regions at once results in Melodyne "forgetting" I have it registered on my iLok.
 
To resolve I've either removed the region FX and added to fewer clips at a time, or saved, closed, and re-opened the project. I haven't had this happen when adding Melodyne to a single clip yet.

Merged threads with another one from problem reports forum...

I had an old project loaded up in Platinum, and had an issue with Melodyne hanging up and being extremely slow. Yet in a more current project it was working fine. So I created a new project, and imported all the tracks, after which things went along smoothly.

Welp, on suggestion by an ol pal who really should know the straight skinny, I'm gonna uninstall Melodyne, reinstall and then do a complete rescan. I'll keep ya posted.

Since I had already purchased Melodyne before it was included with X3 Producer, I now have two licenses.  So, I can have it on my desktop DAW with one license and could have the second (Sonar supplied) license on a laptop if I wanted. (This according to Melodyne support).

Glad it worked for you. Most likely a corrupted Melodyne install somehow.

Thanks Noel, ol pal.  Ive downloaded and installed the latest PACE drivers for the iLok and so far running fine.

Hope no one minds, I changed the title to alert people about the PACE issue.
 
And aren't the PACE drivers updated about every 20 minutes?
