[Solved] Midi Plugins - Please Help
Hi, I recenty upgraded from HS6 to Professional and i need help! I'm trying to use MIDI FX on softsynths, like i always have.
I insert a soft synth (using simple instrument track?). When i try to add a midi effect using the add fx '+' sign button on the soft synth's track fx bin - it brings up audio fx etc but no midi fx folder - like it can't find them.
However, under plug-ins in the browser, i can call all my midi fx, under the midi effect section as you'd expect. I've worked out that i can drag and drop the midi effects, say apreggiator onto the track of the soft synth (but NOT into the effects bin? is this normal?)
We i do that, the midi effect appears in the fx bin on the soft synth track.
BUT... when i click on the midi effect to use it i get the following error message:
CAKEWALK MISSING PLUG-IN STAND-IN
PLUG-IN: ARPEGGIATOR
THIS PLUGIN IS MISSING OT IMPROPERLY INSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM.
I've just discovered that if i record some midi data onto the track first, and them drag the midi plugin onto that data, it opens up the Aprieggiator interface and you can adjust / use the effect for that section of midi.
But this limitation can't be normal can it? I'm used in Sonar HS6 being able to insert the midi fx into the track fx bit and preview / audition the effects in real time?
When i look in the Plug in Manager, all the fx are there listed under shared MIDI FX folder as you'd expect. I don't understand why the plugins are working on individual sections of midi data but not as i'd expect it to on the track as a whole?
I thought it must have been some conflict because on having HS6 on my machine when i installed professional. Ive even done a full clean unistall of sonar using these instructions
https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013392/SONAR-2015-Clean-Install-InstructionsSince reinstalling I have the same problem.
If anyone could be very very grateful. I've previously posted this here on the forum but not had a reply and I contacted Cakewalk tech support - 4 days ago now and they haven't responded!
Thanks,
Ben
SOLVED - OK, easy when you know how. I know realise that Midi FX have to be inserted using the track inspector. I still think the error message is confusing and poorly handled in Sonar Professional.
