[Solved] Platinum - getting "Find Missing Audio" dialogue when I open a Project Template?
I have half a dozen or so custom Project Templates which have pre-assigned sends and busses and pre-populated FX Bins etc. I've copied them over from: *Cakewalk Content>SONAR X3 Producer>Project Templates to *Cakewalk Content>SONAR Platinum>Project Templates However, when I try to create a new project (.cwp) in Platinum using one particular template, the following screen opens, which I've never seen before when opening a template: I click on Skip All and then this screen appears: If I then save the new project file and subsequently re-open it, the same two dialogue screens appear (and every time I re-open the project). Just to check, if I create a new project in X3 Producer and use the identical template, it opens up immediately as has always happened. However, if I open the same Template (.cwt) in Platinum using File>Open>Project Templates, it opens immediately with no 'Missing Audio' warnings at all. If I save it as a 'Normal' project file (.cwp), then close and re-open, the file again opens with no warnings. So to recap, the only problem seems to be when I try to create a new 'Normal' project using this particular template. Any ideas? Thanks in advance of any help and advice

When creating a new project using the template in X3 are the audio files in the project?

No Steve, I created the original template from a completely empty/blank .cwp and then saved it as a template file. Apart from the pre-bussing and plug-ins, the only other thing it has 'added' is a one measure groove clip (triggering Superior Drummer 2):

I asked because I could recreate the issue by saving a template with waves in it. Never tried saving a project template with track data before. For project "templates" with track data, I use regular CW projects. I tried to recreate the problem: Starting with a project with both audio and MIDI in X3, Deleting the audio, Saving a project template, Copy the template to a different directory Point Platinum to the new project template directory Create a new project with the new template ...It worked OK. Have no explanation but this may get a usable Platinum template: Save the template as a project in X3, Verify there are no wave references in the project using Project > Audio Files... Open the project in Platinum, Save as a template in Platinum.

Are you sure you're saving it as "type - template" and not just renaming it from cwp to cwt? It could be that X3 looked the file type but Platinum is looking at the header of the file and acting accordingly...

Bob, thanks for the input, it's definitely a .cwt I'm trying to open. I did create it originally as a .cwp but definitely saved it as .cwt in my X3 Project Templates folder. It still opens just fine in X3.

That did it Steve, thanks! Weird why it would have happened though.

There are differences between templates made by different versions of SONAR. I have read posts about problems possibly being related to old templates. This is a first for me but again when I need a "template" which contains data, I use a regular project file and use "Save As" to create the new project.

Thanks Steve. I don't know if this is relevant, but just I noticed an "assets" file listed in the Platinum Template folder. I'm already way out of my computer-literacy depth already, but I don't recall seeing this before. The five listed templates at the top of this list are the customised .cwt's I created in previous versions and copied across, but only the "01 - Superior Drummer Metal" template - the same template that originally caused the 'Missing Files' problem - has this extra file associated with it.

Asset files were added to X3 for Gobbler integration. Platinum lacks Gobbler integration at the moment but still appears to have hooks in the program for the feature. I don't use Gobble and have "Save Asset Manifests with Projects" disabled in Preferences > File > Advanced. Enabling the feature in Platinum creates the files.

Just to add, Steve you're a genius I just disabled "Save Asset Manifests with Projects" in X3, opened the 'offending' template and resaved it. I copied it across to the Platinum Templates folder and it now opens perfectly.

I am having a problem with missing audio files also. When I search no files found and when I skip I may get one or two tracks. What is the best way I can find and restore tracks?
