[Solved] Signal Flow ( I know....I know....bear with me please)
Yes, I've read the signal flow charts, etc. But like algebra, some things just don't work in my pea-brain.... So once and for all, is my track signal, guitar track for instance, going to the ProChannel first (when it's turned on), or the FX Bin first? Say if I wanna use Amplitube on a guitar track, I want the signal going through the amp BEFORE it's processed with comps, eq's, etc, in Prochannel. So am I supposed to put Amplitube in the FX Bin, or create a bin in the ProChannel and put Amplitube there as the first plug in the chain, before the comps, eq, etc??? Thanks so much. ~Jeff

The Fx bin is switchable Pre/Post the Pro Channel. But I try to use the PC exclusively so in your case I'd insert an Fx Chain in the Pro Channel, move it to the top of the PC and insert your Amp sim there.

By default PC is pre FX bin I think.

Jonesy, thanks. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that the Pre/Post buttons are not for the ProChannel. I think that's where my confusion lies. I, like you, try to use the PC exclusively too. I just get very confused seeing 100's of different screen shots of Sonar on the internet. Some have amp sims in the FX bin, and some don't, even when the ProChannel light is on. But if I wanted to use the Amplitube in the FX Bin as an insert fx and want that the first signal prior to going to the ProChannel, I just click the Pre button? Is that correct?

The buttons I think you're referring to are for Sends. The PC has no pre/post button; right-click the top section of the PC, and choose 'Post FX Rack' from the context menu. Or insert the amp sim in an FX Chain at the top of the PC as suggested. Everything in the PC works as an Insert FX, just as the FX bin does.

That's it! Thanks Brundle. Didn't know about the Post FX rack right click. Exactly what I wanted. As always....this forum is the best! ~Jeff

"if I wanted to use the Amplitube in the FX Bin as an insert fx and want that the first signal prior to going to the ProChannel, I just click the Pre button? Is that correct?" Not exactly. What I meant was that you can drag the Fx chain containing the Amp Sim to the first slot on the Pro Channel by clicking and dragging the header. The PC processes Fx from top to bottom so you can follow the sim with EQ, Compression or anything else all within the Pro Channel. To insert an Fx chain, open up the Pro Channel in the inspector, right click in the grey area at the top and choose Insert Module. Scroll down to Fx Chain and select it. Mine always drop down to the last module in the pc so you might have to drag it to the top. Now insert your amp sim, either by dragging from the browser or right click and choose Insert Audio Fx
