[Solved] Simple EQ plug in

Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall seeing a simple EQ plug in like is on many P.A. heads (such as a Peavey XR series).  I have and have seen all kinds of fancy graphic EQ's, parametric EQ's, etc.,  but not just a plain old EQ with Low Mid and High controls.

Here's a free one:

Actually, that's not quite the same thing. The shelving emulates a Baxandall shelving-type EQ like what you find in hi-fi amps. The Peavey one uses a peak/notch filter and conventional shelving. Maybe I should make an FX chain  - wouldn't be too hard to emulate an XR series EQ.

Meanwhile, maybe the graphic EQ in the Anderton Collection will do the job for the OP. It's a little more complex than a three-band EQ, but it's quite straightforward.

Craig I've got one that is similar to yours.  Anything else you can do will be appreciated.

Mikedocy, I'll give your suggestion a try.  But I don't think its the same type as used on a P.A., such as a Peavey XR600F.

The Nomad BT EQ's all more complex with frequency settings.

Yup, that's it. However different XRs have different midrange frequencies, according to their manuals. The XR8300 and XR8600D give the mid EQ frequency as 450 Hz, as does the XR1212. This makes more sense to me as that's the "mud" frequency.

It wouldn't be hard to add a button that switches the mid between 450 and 850 Hz so you could emulate the two different responses.

Most any EQ will allow you to configure the knobs to a preset. It seems the point of the OP may be to replicate the Peavey? I didn't search for specs on that, but if you have those in hand you can assign them as defaults to the EQ of your choice.

Also, companies themselves are pretty open to share such. I had asked Carvin about possibly using EQ on an amp sim to replicate my 212, and they sent me back the tech specs/performance of the entire guts of the amp (sorta shocked me, but I truly love those guys). The answer to my specific intent was a "no" short of programming an amp sim from scratch; but as far as the EQ knobs/sliders on the face of the amp, they are "set in stone."

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

scook. Thank you! I've downloaded it and will try it out

I don't need a "Peavey" EQ just mentioned that as a type.  Mackie and others have similar.  The old analog Teac boards from the 70's have basically the same thing.

Right-click in an FX bin, choose Insert FX Chain Preset, and navigate to the .fxc preset. If you like it, go to the SONAR folder and put it in the FX Chain Presets folder so it shows up with the rest of the list.

Also note that Steve has demonstrated how easy and useful it is to know how to put together effects chains.

The actual location of your FX Chains in defined at the bottom of Preferences > File > Folder Locations "FX chain Presets." By default they are located in "C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\FX Chain Presets." I used all defaults for the UI. It could be a little more readable by changing the Label Text to White and a different rotary image. To customize an FX Chain, right-click in the body of the FX Chain and select "Customize UI."

Me again.  I tried that EQ on a vocal track.  The only control that does anything is the MID ??

I saved the preset with the MID frequency all the way up. You might want to center the knob and re-save the preset. I will fix the preset and update the link above.

You can also change the other settings not exposed in the EQ by clicking Effects button and the click the Equalizer button to expose the Sonitus EQ.

If you want I can raise the low frequency and lower the high frequency nodes. As defined the low is not going to do much above 150 and the high starts around 6K.

Here is another example with the low and high nodes moved more to the center XR-V Series EQ.fxc
The original used 70 and 12000 Hz, this one uses 200 and 2000.

This is what is listed in the Peavey XR600G Manual (I use Peavey as an example as I have the manual).
The new one, at least on the male voice track I've been trying it on still doesn't seem to do much.
I'm going to have to work more (deeply) into the EQ's that I have.

Low EQ: A shelving type of active tone control that varies the bass frequency
levels (±15 dB at 70 Hz). This will add depth to thin-sounding signals or clean up
muddy ones. As with any EQ‚ use sparingly. Too much of this EQ can give you a
booming bottom end.
7. Mid EQ: A band pass (peak/notch) type of active tone control that varies the
mid-range frequencies (±15 dB at 1 kHz).
8. High EQ: A shelving type of active tone control that varies the treble frequency (±15 dB at 12 kHz). This control is
designed to remove noise or add brilliance to the signal depending on the quality of the source.
