[Solved] Slip-Stretching Not Working?
Just updated to 2017.05. Trying to slip-stretch a wav I recorded in Audacity. Both cntrl or cntrl-shift act like crop clip. I noticed that the cursor change does not happen and it's always the slip-stretch cursor (even without holding the keys) unless it changes to the wedge (clip fade). I must be doing something wrong.....

Yes. I even tried deselecting and then re-selecting the smart tool. Strangely when I just put the smart cursor over the back of the clip, the cursor changes to the slip-stretch cursor even without the cntrl key being held down. But it only acts like crop clip.

Several releases ago the shortcut to slip-edit was changed from the ctrl key to the shift key IIRC. Does using the shift key work?

Been trying everything. Neither the shift key, control key, alt key, shift-cntrl or shift-alt do slip-stretching, they all do crop clip. Shift-Alt adds space at the front of the clip. Has anyone tried to do this with the latest update? I can do this outside of Sonar, in Audacity, but somehow the character of the sound is not preserved.

On 2017.5 here and Ctr+Shift works. Cursor changes appropriately in the bottom half of the clip edge. This with a "new project" (all default settings), drag and drop clip in.

I have noticed the waveform doesn't always change while I am slip stretching - leading me to think I am not stretching but when I release the mouse button the waveform will change. It is cntrl-shft. I just did it and the first couple times I hit cntrl-shft the cursor didn't change. It was very finicky about where the cursor was before it changed to the slip-stretch icon. fwiw the first slip stretch I did the waveform didn't change as I drug it but changed instantly to the stretched waveform when I released the mouse. subsequent slip stretch to same clip resulted in waveform changing as I drug it.

I see it now. The Sonar reference manual is dead wrong on all points. You have to hold cntrl-shift then move the cursor to the end and around the middle, vertically of the clip, the cursor then turns to a bar with arrows on each side, with a double shadow on the arrows, then it will slip-stretch. Thanks for all the help, guys!

Just slip-stretched the audio clip I needed to do. Came out perfect. It was a voice clip and the character and pitch of the waveform apparently did not change. Excellent. How do I mark this thread as Solved?

edit your original post and put "Solved" in the headline did you bounce it to clips after the stretch? That will make it sound even better

Great! The SlipEdit cursor should show anywhere along the edge of the clip while Ctl+Shift is held. How do I mark this thread as Solved? Click on EDIT on your OP and edit the title.

I don't get it ? That's exactly what the manual says. From the Sonar reference manual: Hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys, Move the mouse pointer over the end of the clip until the cursor changes into the slip-stretch icon .This is from the link I posted in my first post https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=AudioSnap.19.html It would help if you changed the title to "Solved". That way we wouldn't click on this thread, trying to help. Only to find your problem is solved.
