[Solved] Sonar X3e - plug-in selection missing in MIDI track output to control Glitch2 vst

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out a way in X3e to automate the change between the various "Scenes" (pages of sequencer patterns) for the effects plug-in Glitch2 via MIDI but have not been able to get it to work. The manual for Glitch2 says the 128 “Scenes”  correspond to each of the 128 possible MIDI note numbers.

I have tried the following (based on an old thread about triggering Stutter Edit in Sonar):
1 - Configure Glitch2 as a "synth" in the properties of the plug-in manager.
2 - In the Fx Bin of a Simple Instrument Track (Zeta+2 as soft synth) insert Soft Synth->VST2->Glitch2
3 - Create a MIDI track to point the output to Glitch2
Problem is there is no selection for "Glitch2" in the output pulldown menu in the MIDI track.
If I load Glitch2 as a Synth in a Simple Instrument I can select different "Scenes" via my A-500PRO but cannot route the output of another Simple Instrument Track into the track with Glitch2.

Any ideas on other ways to get this working would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Lex

Cheers,
Lex

Those instructions are old. Starting with X3 there is no need to configure a plug-in as a synth to send MIDI data to it. Change Glitch2 back to an effect in the plug-in manager. Once the plug-in is redefined as an effect, here are the steps to setup Glitch2 or any plug-in which accepts MIDI input.

Add Glitch2 to the FX bin of the audio track, instrument or bus which needs the effect
Click the VST2 drop down in the Glitch2 VST header and check "Enable MIDI Input"
Add a MIDI track and point the MIDI output to Glitch2

    Awesome, that did the trick.

I am going to copy this to my DAW computer for future reference.

    Thanks scook.
