[Solved] Sudden New Latency in Project

Hey all,
I have a project with lots of VI's that has been behaving fine.  Loaded up today and the VI's have lots of latency all of a sudden.  I froze most of them but did not help much.  Seems to just be this project.  Any thoughts?

If the latency goes away after hitting "E" (the shortcut to disable effects) then it is latency induced by plug-ins like LP-64 EQ, LP-64 MultiBand, TS-64 and Perfect Space.

That did indeed take away the latency.  I'll see if I can isolate from here.

Thanks!

Start your search with processors that have a look-ahead time, like limiters and compressors.

Copy that Craig.  Much appreciated.

Convoluted reverbs, like Perfect Space also induce latency.

Perhaps you could list all of the plugins loaded into this project?

Certainly
17 VI's:  Raputure, Dimension Pro, Stylus RMX, Trilian, PianoTeq
Project was running fine with very low latency with all these on for the past several days.  Latency occurred today so I froze most all of them.  Latency still here.  This happens every now and then and rebooting the machine always fixes it, but not this time.
Stereo bus:
Prochannel compressor and EQ
Ozone 4 with all modules except stereo imaging.  (no improvement when off)
K Meter (no improvement when off)
Reverb bus:
Pantheon  (no improvement when off)
Tracks:
About five tracks with Prochannel Compressor and EQ (no improvement when off)

When I press "E" to bypass plugins, latency goes away.

I know there are a few VI's I'm not actually using, so I'll go through and pull those out.

Did you turn the audio engine off and on after turning off a plug-in? This is needed for SONAR to recalculate the PDC. I would start by turning off Ozone again and toggle the audio engine. I would imagine there is some mention about latency in the Ozone docs.

You guys are the beez neez!  I just toggled the engine and that helped alot.  Disabled Ozone and toggled engine and no latency.  Thanks guys!

By the way...what is PDC?

EDIT:  I found it.  Plugin Delay Compensation

Having been on a similar quest many times in the past, I never realized this and always went with the "e" shortcut. Thanks, Scook, that's a vital piece of information.

EDIT:
I have to wonder why this is the case though, since PDC works automatically upon inserting or un-bypassing a plug.

+1 of restarting the Audio Engine. Sonar has a nasty habit of randomly "hanging on" to the plug-in states, and, at times, when you're using a plug-in that induces noise, it will continue to for days after you stop playback. Is there an .ini setting to tell Sonar to stop the Audio Engine after playback?
