[Solved] Trying to move Rapture Pro Dimension Pro and Rapture libraries to second HDD
Hi all. I need to free up some real estate on my SSD so I thought to move the libraries for the above. I figured the easiest way would be to uninstall and reinstall as I'd read the CCC gives an option to install the libraries on a separate location. So I uninstalled, then deleted folders under program files and program data. I reinstalled Rapture Pro first and CCC just put it all back on my C drive. There was no option to put the libraries elsewhere. Am I missing something? Any help much appreciated. Cheers Mark edit: added [Solved] to the subject - sc

Thanks scook. I'd read that thread while searching but wasn't sure I wanted to start messing with the directory. I'll give it a go a bit later today. Cheers Mark

Either mess with the directory or mess with the registry, your call. The reason there is no option to install the sample folder during install is because the sample folder has already been setup in the registry. I try to steer away from registry edits, directory junctions are a safer solution.

I wasn't aware there was a difference . OK directory junctions it is. Should be an interesting learning curve. I'll read that thread thoroughly until I fully understand what I'm doing before I do it. Thanks again. Mark

Thanks scook! Seems to have gone off without a hitch. My SSD looks a lot healthier now. Can I use the same process to move the libraries for Dim Pro and Rapture?

Question for you, scook. Is it possible to simply move the entire "C:\Cakewalk Content" directory to another drive, and issue a single command? mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Content" "D:\Cakewalk Content" Would that redirect any attempt to read or write any file or subdirectory under it? If so, is the syntax correct (no trailing backslash)? It would be nice to only have to create a single directory junction. I've been on Windows since Win386, and this is the first I've heard of directory junctions. And I used to write drivers for it. Sheesh. Still learning!

I have not moved the entire tree but it should work fine. The OS redirects all reads and writes. It is as if the directory was still on C. The syntax is correct, no trailing backslash needed. Note: the mklink command does not actually move the data. You will have to move the folder first. The mklink command only creates the directory junction.
