[Solved] Zebra2 won't authorize because the keystrokes are "grabbed" by SONAR

Even though the authorization window has focus and the cursor is blinking in the text box, any attempt to type letters into the text box fails because SONAR "traps and uses" the keystrokes instead. Cut and paste doesn't work either.
Is there any way to temporarily turn off this behavior?

Click the little QWERTY keyboard icon in the plug-ins's upper left corner. This gives the plug-in priority for keystrokes.

Yup - by default, Sonar will grab the keystrokes, but that little button in the plugin UI tells Sonar to give all the keystrokes to the plugin.  You need to do this when doing things like the authorization, or for naming presets in the plugin when you save new ones, etc.

Except that it doesn't work for every case. Example: I'm in PianoTeq Stage. I go to "Save as..". The dialog comes up (it's a separate little child window from PianoTeq) and when I type a new name, SONAR gets the keystrokes and does random stuff to my project.

And yes, I definitely have the "keyboard" button enabled on the PianoTeq window...

A work around that nobody seems to like, is to copy the text from notepad or something similar and paste it into the application where needed.

... but that's genius. I wish I'd thought of that when I was tearing my hair out and thinking up new curses.

Another workaround would be to authorize it from within something else other than Sonar, if you have any other software that runs VST plugins.  After all the authorization applies to its use on your computer, not necessarily within Sonar.  Does it also run as a standalone?  If so that would make it even easier.

Kev, I thought about saving the preset from another host , or stand-alone like you suggested, but at that point I'd have to discard my changes and work up the preset again from scratch, only without the context of my SONAR project.

It's kind of like saying "maybe you should be using a different DAW" :-D

I assumed that we were talking about the initial authorization of the software.  Where do presets come in to it?

EDIT:
Oh, I see.  Saving presets was brought up in Posts #3 and #4.  Sorry, I was only addressing the OP's original question.
