[Solved] [and renamed] Comp mode: How to see only selected single clip's midi data in PRV

Update: Now that it's solved (thanks again) I have renamed this post to make it more useful to anyone searching for an answer to this (and to add that having had my first cup of coffee since the "incident", have to say it was a pretty massive doh! on my part  to begin with)

--------------------------

Hi all,

I've just recorded midi in comp mode in earnest (about 25 takes) for the first time.

As I slice up the takes in their takes lanes and start comping, I'm hearing some take lane clips which are worth keeping as serious contenders, but which need a touch of basic midi editing -- e.g a note's duration needs extending.

So I select that take lane clip with the smart tool (thus promoting it to the comp) and then click the symbol at the top right hand of the take lane clip, which takes me into the piano roll view.

Whoa, what I'm seeing there does not correspond at all to what I hear, or to what I see in the track view... not one bit.

I've uploaded two screenshots here.
Track view:

PRV:

The track view shows the underlying take clip selected, as well as the main comp lane (i.e) the two clips have the same midi data, which consists of some long slow legato notes), for from bar 0 to bar 9. It looks like it sounds. Good.

Whereas the PRV shows ... I'm not sure. Certainly not what I need to see in order to edit. I'm guessing it is midi from every take in this time range. But 99% of the notes are whited out. The only colored notes are just two tiny "blip notes" in measures 2 and 6. These are not what I hear.

I've inspected and tried all options under the PRV's main menu (Views, Notes etc) and nothing helps. Under its Tracks menu I only get the option to view the comp track, but not the undelrying take lane clip which I chose.

Surely this is not how it's supposed to be? Because if so, how do you see and edit just what's in the underlying take clip? Why does it give the option to view it in PRV when in fact you can't? Or at least I can't ... yet.

There seems to be no inline midi view available for midi take lane clips either.

Could someone please advise?

I sure hope I don't have to flatten the whole comp and drag a copy of it elsewhere e.g. to a new midi track every time I just want to edit one note in a take lane clip … that could end up generating a huge pile of clips and tracks to manage. Please say it ain't so!

PS I tried attaching the images using the tool at the top right of this post editor, but at least in preview mode they are not showing up ... at all events, the files can be accessed via the dropbox links

Thanks brundefly. It was quite late when I was trying to fix it, I should have caught that.

Although it's not that the non-selected/promoted clips were actively muted, rather they just weren't selected. Same effect, but different operation / status. Maybe because the clips weren't muted per se I didn't try what you suggested after all.

Might be better to change the menu term "Hide muted clips" to "Show selected clips". But whatever, I'm up and running.

Thanks again.
