[Solved] nowhere can i find....

Information on how to move Sonar Platinum to my new SSD. I would think this wouldn't be an off-the-wall question, as we all move from motors to solid state.  I've tried every combination of words in FAQ and Knowledge base. 
 
If there is any area where Sonar falls down, it is in documentation. This forum is all too often the "owner's manual" for me, and i appreciate the many helpful people who show up here.  I do want to assure you all that i do go to my Garrigus X2 book , then FAQ and knowledge base before I come crawling here in supplication.

I know this is an older thread but I thought it might help others if I outlined steps.
for example in my case- I had sonar platinum all set up on my old PC.
I just got done with a new build ( Intel I 7 4790K 4.0GHZ) with an SSD drive.
what I wanted to do was shorten the process of having to re download all these items again.
so this is what I did....
 
1- copy the latest versions from your Command Center folder to an Ext Hard Drive.
(located in Program Data/Cakewalk/Command Center/Downloads)
 
2- once your new build is complete install the latest version of Cakewalk Command center.
 
3- Copy the contents/installers that you saved to the Ext hard drive in to the same folder on your new build.
(located in Program Data/Cakewalk/Command Center/Downloads)
 
3-Run Cakewalk Command Center and let it do its thing.
the Command Center will recognize the installers and install them as long as they are the latest versions.

this wasn't an easy search. so I understand your frustration.
I bumped a 7 month old thread so others (like yourself) would have an easy alternative/option to reinstalling on a new HDD/SSD Drive.
Vs. downloading the content all over again.

A question. Since I'm migrating, not to another machine, but to a drive on the same machine, I can just go directly to my new SSD, right? No need for the external drive, etc?

it really doesn't matter where you put the copy of your downloads cache (step #1).
its just for safe keeping until you reinstall command center.
 
just re install command center, then place all of the installers (from your old install)
Installers are in: Program Data/Cakewalk/Command Center/Downloads
into your new Command center cache (Program Data/Cakewalk/Command Center/Downloads)
Then run command center, it will identify the installers, so when you click "Install" it wont download anything
(unless there is a new version) it will use the installers you placed in the cache

 I have everything installed with rollbacks that go back 5 months and my cache is 18GB.
you bring up a good point though Bob. im sure when he is copying the Cache over he will have an idea how big it is.

Massive is indeed quite subjective.  I DO completely agree with that.
 
From MY perspective, 18 GB out of the 6 TB of hard drive space in my primary DAW is indeed peanuts.
 
On the other hand 18 GB from 'just in case' saved downloads coming out of available space on a 120 GB SSD drive IS massive, to me.  It's still only 15% or so out of the total space for that SSD, BUT once you look at free space available after things like Windows and all applications, there may only be 50-60 GB to start with, and against THAT amount, 18 GB is certainly a bunch, in addition to there being lots of info out there suggesting that filling an SSD up past a certain amount is not a good idea.
 
So, the above is what I looked when choosing to use the word massive in my earlier post.  If it doesn't apply, that's fine - for me it does. :)
