Since you are obviously promoting a product, is it too much for you to actually supply useful information that is readable and understandable no matter how limited your grasp of the english language may be?

It's a Russian website and domain. I wouldn't expect the site to be in English. Having said that, if the desire is to promote the products on a more global scale, then a comprehensive site in grammatically correct English should be a priority.

2timidi What do you mean "readable and understandable"? "Brush Snare Demo"? "Brush Snare"? "Hi-hat"? "Since you are obviously promoting a product" - promoting? it`s my hobby!

2burkek What there not correctly grammatical? It is important for my product? Or with my grammatical errors my hi-hat samples will sound incorrectly?

    Dr.Beat,

English, unlike many languages, is based upon sequencing the words as much as word endings.  To rewrite your 2nd blurb, first sentence:

"Update!  We have a new, free drum kit, sampled from a real drum set."

That is one way to rewrite the sentence so it is more grammatical and makes more sense to a native English reader.  I'm not complaining, I can speak just a little spanish, but you asked what was wrong w/ your grammer.

Looking forward to checking out the drumming,

    @

Thank you Dr. Beat, I checked out your stuff and it all appears to be genuine, freely downloadable and clean.

I appreciate your efforts here.  I could understand what you were trying to convey fully, some of the native English speakers here display a lesser grasp of grammar than you do so I wouldn't worry about it.

I do think this thread would be better served in the Software forum though, and whilst it is not your fault many will likely be wary of an .ru site because of the amount of warez and scams that come from that direction.

That's unfortunate because you have clearly put the effort in here and for me that is a welcome thing.

    спасибо

That's absolute garbage, I'd get a new virus checker if I were you.  They are just innocuous zip files which contain exactly what they say they do.

I checked them out myself.  Give the guy a break.

Whoa, calm down Jonbuoy. I'm only reporting what happened when I tried to download the file. As for my anti-virus, I use ESET Smart Security 5 and it's kept my present and past computers clean, which is what I pay for.
It works for you, that's great. But for me I'll trust my anti-virus.
Have a pleasant and happy virus free weekend to one and all.

I'm calm pal, I'm not the one having hysterics about mythical viruses remember...

So what file exactly was flagging up as a virus and what kind of virus did it show?

I'm sure our host will be grateful you showed up something he was unaware of, if indeed there is any truth in your previous accusation.  Man the guy is giving away some of the fruits of his labour the are just wav and sfz files zipped up.

I've pulled some down from behind a firewall and virus checked them on a sandboxed drive.  They're clean I'll tell thee.

Tell us what file was reported as bad by your anti-virus program? We can check it out, too. Maybe it's a false possitive.

I just download one of the kits (juniordrkit-checked clean by Avast) because I have no patients for having to wait minutes for another download after one download is made.

I would post a picture of the quarantine box showing the file, if anybody knows how and can let me know.

But for the moment it states:

14/10/2011 15:49:04 HTTP filter file http://cdn.download.sweetim.com/download/pgong/SweetImSetup.exe a variant of Win32/SweetIM.B potentially unwanted application connection terminated - quarantined Audio-PC\AJC Threat was detected upon access to web by the application: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe.

Hoping that this calms the doubters.  I thought the Forum was for helping and advising each other and not  accusing people of lying in a very aggressive manner.

I will check through the forums if I have a problem, but doubt whether I will report any faults I may find on these forums again.

    Best wishes

      Alan,

Don't be discouraged from posting comments.  NOD32 is definitely an excellent antivirus engine...top-rated.  However, you have the "Detect potentially unwanted application" feature enabled which makes NOD32 extra paranoid.  This feature is good, but it does quarantine software you might actually want because that software may have some component within it that falls into a suspicious category.  For instance, NOD32 will flag the Angry IP Scanner, nmap, and other port scanning network tools used legitimately by network administrators because they are port scanning tools.

The problem is not the .zip files being downloaded.  Instead, NOD32 takes issue with the HTML hyperlink embedded in the Google Ads on the hosting web page.  There is a hyperlink to the SweetIM Instant Messaging software.  SweetIM has keystroke logging capability even though it is legit software.  With the potentially unwanted application setting enabled the HTTP filter in NOD32 is warning about the link in the web page.

So, it is NOT an issue with Dr. Beat's zip file.  It's with the  Google Ads that show up on the web page.

FOR ALL -  Each file archive contains only SFZ and WAV files. SFZ-file has a text format. A question - how can be there virus? Who knows infected WAV files?

Dr. Beat, the problem is not your .wav files or .zip files.  It is with the Google Ads on your web site.  They link to the SweetIM instant messaging tools.  That tool is suspect and NOD32 antivirus is flagging the web page, not your files.  If you had better control over the Google Ads (or eliminated them) then NOD32 and some other antivirus tools with similar capability won't wave the warning.

Sweet Im is a smiley downloader for messenger applications, the host it's coming from isn't even Dr Beat's site.  Alst it's not a virus it's a PUP, potentially unwanted program.

You see it has helped you stating what the actual problem was.  Now people can be warned that one of the download hosts or advertisers is trying to pass this off alongside the file you want to download.  My recommendation is don't touch that particular file.  It actually looks like Google is the villain here not Dr Beat.

The problem I had with your approach was, say that you had a website featuring your stuff and I came back here and said "Don't go near that site you'll catch something really bad!" it of course wouldn't have been fair to you.

So the principle here is, if somebody was carelessly damning YOUR domain I'd have reacted in the exact same way.

It's just bad form, as is, like I previously pointed out, cross posting the same thread in more than one forum.  This thread doesn't even belong in the X1 forum.  It either belongs in Software or Cakewalk Instruments but not both.

this is obviously a labor of love on Dr. Beats part as i dont see anything for sale at his/her site, some of you people are just plain anal, i thought music was a universal language so who cares about perfect english youre not paying for anything anyway

Dr. Beats, like others already pointed out try using a site without those ads, and post your offerings in the appropriate forum

Hmm .. Thank you. An interesting problem! Each visitor to our site Google shows an individual ad. It depends on visitor country, etc.  It is unclear, what Google ads will show on our website later.)))

this is obviously a labor of love on Dr. Beats part as i dont see anything for sale at his/her site, some of you people are just plain anal, i thought music was a universal language so who cares about perfect english youre not paying for anything anyway

Dr. Beats, like others already pointed out try using a site without those ads, and post your offerings in the appropriate forum

keep up the good work Dr. Beats!!

    Thanks a lot!)
