Some issues and questions regarding X2

I've been using X2 since release day and really like the new changes.  I've had some glitches, but not all that much, really, so overall I'm pleased with it.  I do have a few things (in random order), though, that maybe someone could help with:

- Space bar doesn't always stop playback (Happened for a while; seems to have stopped. Maybe low memory at time.)
- Rewind button, once clicked, sometimes won't stop rewinding (Also seems to have stopped. Maybe also memory related.)
- Open dialog doesn't open to Project Files directory set in Preferences (Uses last known directory, or if first time, the Audio Library directory.)
- The Now assist line shows over plugin windows
- Same project open with focus in X1 reads "CPU usage: 9%, SONARPDR.exe: 3%"; in X2 "CPU usage: 17%, SONARPDR.exe: 8%" -- NOT CONSISTENT
- Floating Console window never opens vertically to the size I left it at previously (I keep Console on 2nd monitor.)
- Cannot deselect Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver in Preferences|Audio|Sync and Caching|Record Latency Adjustment (samples), therefore cannot select my M-Audio ASIO driver (I mentioned this in another thread.)
- Can't find X2 Reference Manual
- Is Beatscape still included? CakeTV X2 video talks about restructuring of Beatscape content into a single folder, but I didn't notice Beatscape install at all, and therefore no restructuring of Beatscape content
- Is there an X2 demo project, and if so where? (I clicked Cancel on Rapture install because I already have full version; Is Rapture the last thing installed, or did my cancelling that mess up the rest of the install process?)
- The install process used to leave the install files in something like a "Sonar X2 Setup Files" directory in a place of your choosing so you could restart install easily whenever you needed; now it no longer does that so if something goes wrong, you have to start the entire process over from scratch, which take a very long time.  (Someone else mentioned this in his install difficulties.)  When the install process didn't ask me for a setup location, I began hunting for the files' location, as they had to be somewhere.  I found them in c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Temp and I believe the folder was called Cakewalk Sonar X2 Producer.  I copied these files to my usual Sonar setup location for further use, if necessary.  Others of you might want to do likewise.  (This was dumb of Cakewalk; you could always delete them yourself later if you didn't need them, but the time it takes to extract that whole set of files each time is ridiculous.)

That's a lot of stuff, I know.  I'm sure there's more, but that's it for right now.  Any answers would be appreciated.  'Hope this adds to the issues list and maybe provides some information for others who haven't installed yet.  (Or that you guys set me straight if I got anything wrong here.)

ASIO drivers - you need to go to Preferences/Audio/Devices, unselect the "Generic" & select the M Audio. You can only have 1 ASIO device in use at any one time.

    X2 Reference pdf is a separate download - http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013290

Beatscape content is in (I think) the Loops & One Shots 3 part download. Once you stop the install (eg Rapture) nothing after that gets installed & you have to do it manually.

The demo project is in the Additional Content download.

Yes the install cleans up after itself. That's a win for some & an inconvenience for others. The install files are self executing zip files & can be decompressed with any of the usual zip software.

    Hope that helps.

I have the audio drivers set up exactly like that. The Generic is first in the list (Sonar no longer lets you put your preferred devices at the top of the list), but it's not selected; my M-Audio devices are.  Still the Generic driver shows up in Preferences|Audio|Sync and Caching|Record Latency Adjustment (samples) and will not let me switch to my M-Sudio device.

Thanks for the rest of the info.  Odd that they made the Reference manual a separate download.  Stupid, in fact.  I don't think they've ever done that before.  I'm somewhat afraid of installing a Rapture over a working copy.  It shouldn't matter, but others have reported troubles with the X2 install and I'm not having any.  I'll have to think about that.

It might be worth trying to rename (or delete, I prefer renaming) aud.ini file. It'll be in the username/application_data/Cakewalk... folder & restarting Sonar to force a rebuild of the file.

I suspect the pdf manual maybe wasn't quite ready when the software was released. I always unselect Rapture, Dim Pro & Z3ta in Sonar installs - too many breakages in the past.

    Yeah, I'll try re-doing aud.ini; didn't think of that.

The thing about Rapture is that I'm pretty certain it didn't ask if I wanted to install it.  It wasn't in the list.  I assumed it had checked and saw that the same version was already installed and so (mercifully) skipped it, but no; it never asked and it the install program just popped up at some point.  I was hoping that if I cancelled, it would just cancel Rapture and continue on if there was more to be done.  When the whole thing ended there, I didn't know if I had aborted the installation or if Rapture just happened to be the last thing on the list.  I suspected the former when X2 came up for the first time with a project that had no tracks at all in it.  That didn't seem normal, but I just created one for myself.

I can't tell if X2 installed z3ta+ or not; I've had nearly every version of CW DAWS since well before the Pro Audio days; I never uninstall any previous versions, they just get left off when I set up a new machine.  In this case, I started from 8.0 on (advised by CW support), so the latest z3ta+ was already on there.

I got the Beatscape content, thanks.  It's now installed in two different places: where X2 put it and where previous versions put it, which it asked me for, but that's fine.  I think the new way makes more sense for the way the Browser works.

Thanks again.  Now on to the other issues on the list...

If I understand correctly, Dim Pro was in separate file (04_Dim Pro) if it was missing, renamed or moved it didn't install & parts after 04 have to be manually started/installed.

For Rapture, Z3ta etc I select "custom" install & unselect them from the VST install list (they're all part of the 02_Sonar files).
I'm wondering if cancelling the Rapture install, once started, might have stopped something important happening in the later part of the 02_Sonar packages.

I'm not commenting on your other issues because I'm on XP & that makes comparisons tricky.

I couldn't get X1 to work on my XP SP3 PC at all, though others said they have.  I literally had to buy a new computer to run it.  'Very glad I did.
