Some more Newbie Problems with GT Pro4

Hi,
My first post after my first day of "playing" with GT4. I'm using the hard drive-based version running on 64 bit Windows 7 (with the new update patch). Mt first problem is fairly fundamental, so much so I'm convinced I must be doing something very silly. If I try to create a new project, I can go through the "Create New Project" menus and the folder is created but has no content. Thus the tracks view (or any other) does not appear and I cannot begin adding tracks. If I use the "add tracks" button, all I get is a repeat of the "Create New Project" menus and then go round in circles.
Also I've noticed that,although the help file shows how to access the chromatic tuner, it does not appear in the "Effects/audio/Cakewalk" menu as stated in the help file.

Any suggestions much appreciated.
